Microsoft has announced the removal of China-based technical personnel from its Department of Defense cloud maintenance operations, responding to revelations about foreign engineer involvement in sensitive military computing systems.
The tech giant’s decision follows investigative reporting by Pro Publica that exposed how Chinese engineers participated in maintaining cloud infrastructure for America’s military establishment. The arrangement previously operated under a supervision model utilizing “digital escorts” – cleared U.S. personnel tasked with overseeing foreign technical staff.
I would trust Microsoft with ...no, I don’t trust that company with anything.
Removed, eh? The fact they were even on or connected in any way to begin with is a huge problem.
Result of political correctness. The Chinese are OK. They would never spy for China.

Why were they allowed in there in the first place given the history of their students stealing research and their industrial spies sending research data back to China?

What they do is pare down the classified programs into unclassified, yet highly sensitive components (aka Controlled Unclassified Information, CUI) then give the foreigners access. It then takes nothing to know the classified parts.
The clouds were created by the intel branches using some of their tech.
The problem with countless office, corporate, white collar, Corporate managers, CEOs, middle managers, government bureaucrats, and all the other lifetime indoor work people, is that they tend to be go along to get along, blend in, non-confrontational, mushy people, they don’t really take the blood and guts world seriously.

In todays D.C. it’s all about the money.
China has modernized, in just about every industry, because of theft and copying of IP and our innovations.
Nothing we do escapes their grubby hands.
Even modern weapons and space technology and missile technology, were all stolen and copied.
Their fifth generation fighter jets are almost exact replicas of ours, and now, their sixth generation is looking exactly like ours.
As long as China has access to anything at all from us, they will cheat and steal and copy. We need to break all ties with them, except diplomatically.
