Republican Steve Hilton Surges to Early Lead in California Governor’s Race

Hilton Edges Out Democrat Katie Porter by 1% in Early Polling as 2026 Race Begins to Take Shape

Conservative political commentator and former Fox News host Steve Hilton is now leading the race for California governor, according to newly released early polling. Hilton holds a narrow 1-point lead over Democrat Katie Porter, capturing 19% of support compared to Porter’s 18%.

The early-stage poll also shows former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco each pulling in 6% of likely voters. While the election is still over a year away, the poll is the first major indicator of voter sentiment in what is shaping up to be one of the most consequential and nationally watched gubernatorial races in years.

Hilton, a British-American political strategist known for his work with former UK Prime Minister David Cameron and his tenure as host of The Next Revolution on Fox News, has framed his campaign around restoring common-sense governance, tackling state mismanagement, and reviving economic opportunity.

“California is broken—and we’re going to fix it,” Hilton said in a recent campaign video. “The people of this state are tired of being ignored by the political elite. I’m running to return power to the people and restore sanity to Sacramento.”

Sorry, but no. He’s a Brit (and now American too). I’m tired of the dual-citizen pol. Don’t trust ‘em.

Hmmm. I’m calling BS on this poll. I a rock ribbed CA Republican, and I barely know who he is. I’ve said repeatedly here that Harris will not win. But where is she in this poll? I’d be stunned if she didn’t pull at least 20%

Steve Hilton is campaigning hard and getting out on social media. I hope he doesn’t shun the MAGA movement as Steve Garvey did in his unsuccessful run for the Senate last year.

Seriously, everyone with half a brain knows that a Republican cannot win in California. They’ve so stacked the odds against any R it’s not even possible. Ronald Reagan himself couldn’t win here. It’s very sad too because California’s had some of the very best Republican governors.

I know, have known some dual cits that recognize the absolute miracle of our fine country, and are not afraid to defend her with convincing speech.

They can compare the diffs between the country from which they arose to this great one (warts and all).

Steve Hilton is a good observer, an excellent communicator, and unafraid to colorfully describe his opponents' failures and deceit.

I think that at the time the poll was taken, Harris was not a declared candidate. I’m not sure she is even now.

Maybe I missed that. If that’s the demarcation, then the poll is completely worthless

Every political and appointee should be a naturalized U.S. citizen. Born to U.S. citizens. It’s time.

Thank you, no. I dont want her as my governor. My point is that there any number of more powerful rat hacks here in the state that will want to comforters ring. And no, it’s not Porter. Loser in the senate race. Woman, yes, but white. We can do a lot more “historic” than that

Yo, Steve! Pledge to turn Newscum’s high speed Choo Choo into high speed toll roads and you can dance your way into the Governor’s mansion.

Reagan, Wilson, Deukmejian, all great governors before California got swamped by foreigners and lost its mind to the left

I hope he wins. It’s up to God. DANIEL 2:21 KJV “And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings...”

Well, Trump won and God has placed a lot of Christians and God fearing people in positions of authority that I never expected to see.

We can pray that God will give CA one last chance to repent before the big one takes can of it once for all. Because HE CAN do it.

Romans 13:1-7 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good.

But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience. For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.
