Zelenskyy moves to restore independence of Ukraine anti-graft agencies after protests, EU criticism

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday submitted a new bill that would restore the independence of Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies in an effort to defuse tensions following his approval earlier this week of a controversial law that weakened their autonomy.

The previous bill was seen as undermining the agencies’ independence and sparked a public outcry and protests, the first major demonstrations since the war began, as well as sharp criticism from the European Union.

Zelenskyy said parliament would review the new bill, which “guarantees real strengthening of Ukraine’s law enforcement system, the independence of anti-corruption bodies, and reliable protection of the legal system from any Russian interference.”

First reactions

Ukraine’s two main anti-graft agencies — the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office — quickly welcomed Zelenskyy’s new proposal, saying it restores all their procedural powers and guarantees their independence.

The agencies said they helped draft the new bill, and urged lawmakers to adopt it “as soon as possible” to prevent threats to ongoing criminal cases.

The bill would replace the contentious law passed by lawmakers and approved by Zelenskyy earlier this week. Critics said it stripped Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies of their independence by granting the government more oversight of their work.

What about free elections in Ukraine?

And since the New World Order that put him in power likes to let immigrants vote, make sure the Nork troops in Eastern Ukraine get ballots.

“Zelenskyy moves to restore independence of Ukraine’s anti-graft agencies after protests and EU criticism.”

>>>>>>>>>>>

Good move. Zelenskyy followed the will of the people. As a result, Ukraine’s democracy has been further consolidated.

Now imagine if Putin ever sided with the will of the Russian people—by ending his endless, illegal, war-like campaign of terror against Ukraine. Over one million young Russian men have been killed or permanently injured in less than four years of this bloody quagmire.

In Russia, demonstrations are forbidden. Even holding up a blank piece of paper as a form of protest can land you five years in prison or in a Soviet-style reeducation camp. That’s why you won’t see protests in Russia — at least not until the next revolution.

Zelensky is the result of a free election. He holds his office beyond his original term in accordance with the law and constitution because of the emergency state of war. Now what about free elections in Russia?

“What about free elections in Ukraine?”

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Elections in Ukraine have been temporary paused during the ongoing war.
Why?

Here are the reasons:

Martial Law:
Ukraine is under martial law due to Russia’s full-scale invasion. According to Ukrainian law / Martial law suspends certain democratic processes, including elections, to prioritize national defense and security.

Security Risks:
Holding elections during active conflict poses serious risks to voters, candidates, and election workers, especially in areas near the frontlines or under occupation.

Occupied Territories:
Parts of Ukraine remain under Russian control. Free and fair elections can’t be held in regions where Ukrainian authorities and international observers have no access. Millions of voters would be disenfranchised if elections were help anyway. Which would be HIGHLY non-democratic and an insult to those Ukrainians enduring Russian occupation - they are millions!

Displaced Population:
Millions of Ukrainians have been displaced internally or are living abroad as refugees. Organizing fair elections under these conditions is logistically and legally very difficult..

Focus on Survival and Defense:
The nation’s primary focus is on defending its sovereignty and ensuring survival. Elections require resources and stability that are currently directed toward the war effort.

Constitutional Constraints:
Ukraine’s Constitution prohibits elections during martial law. Changing this would require legal reforms that are not feasible in wartime.

Thus: free elections are paused not to limit democracy, but to preserve it under extreme conditions.

You signed that into law Mr. Corruption because you didn’t care about what Ukrainians thought. After he ponders the whole thing, like Bill Clinton, he’ll say he wracked his brain, and worked long and hard on trying to figure the problem out, but in the end, he’ll say there is really nothing he can do about it.

That’s why it’s such a shame that NATO provoked Putin into this war. Now that NATO has lost the war, the four oblasts will fall under Russian rule. I hope NATO has learned it’s lesson.

Four Oblasts are wishful thinking at this point.

NATO puppet residual-Ukraine will not be allowed on that border, or anywhere near it.

And then there is Odessa... and Kiev...

You again. I say so what? Russia being bad does not exonerate Ukraine. They’re both corrupt and crooked. Two peas in a pod, identical twins.

Buyer’s remorse.

The Ukrainian towns and cities that welcomed the Russians in were subsequently brutalised and looted.

Russia has practically flattened Donetsk and Lugansk oblasts in its attempt to hold onto the territory that Russian Ukrainians handed over to the LDPR / Wagner (Russian sponsored faux separatists) without much of a fight.

They’d have had far more peaceful lives if they’d sided with the Azovs and wiped the Russian sponsored kleptocracy. Putin didn’t lift a finger to support the LDPR until he had the proper Russian invading forces deployed on their turf.

How much are you being paid by your handlers in Yookland to ridiculously shill for one of the most corrupt countries in Europe and its little dictator?? You're propaganda, your twisting and turning of reality, is utterly farcical at this point. It makes Baghdad Bob look like an incorruptible, virtuous truth teller.

Looks like the takeover of France by Musloids is going well. Have you bought your prayer rug and open-backed sandals yet?

If I were you, I'd be far more concerned with what's going on in France than in some busted out, corrupt craphole in Eastern Europe that isn't America's or France's ally.

Nice story, except Mariupol is doing much better than Kherson.

Rocco DiPippo:
“How much are you being paid by your handlers in Yookland to ridiculously shill for one of the most corrupt countries in Europe and its little dictator??”

USA-FRANCE answers:
Maybe you have been sleeping under a rock?
Let me remind you that Trump’s comments and actions are totally aligned with mine here on FR. He calls Putin “totally crazy”, and has now made a deal with the EU to mass-export US weapons to Ukraine! It will make America’s Industrial Complex Great (and rich) Again (that includes the American workers) all while protecting Ukrainian’s from the Moscow-NeoSoviets never-ending warmongering and relentless terrorist attacks against civilians in Ukraine.

This is precisely what I have been asking for during the last 3 years here on FR.
If you are opposed to the principles Trump and USA-FRANCE are 100% united on... I suggest you vote for the Democrats in the next election.

When it comes to the Islamic forces attacking France’s freedoms right now, most of them actually support Russia... Russia as you know is the most Muslim friendly nation in the entirety of geographical Europe. 15% of Russia’s population is muslims, that’s massively more than in France.

Putin inaugurated Europe’s biggest Mosque (it’s massive) right in the center of MOSCOW! That’s tells you something doesn’t it?

Russia is pro Islam. That’s why it supports and is allied with the most extreme Islamic nation on planet earth: The Islamic State of IRAN.

Russia is also pro-communist. That’s why it is allied with North Korea and China. Russia imports North Korean troops, fighting on European territory as we speak.
