I went looking for a missing BMW. The police in one city said their cameras confirmed it wasn’t in the city during a 1 month time period. Another town had the license # and informed us when the car was in their town. It was not officially reported stolen but they had that info. That’s good but is it?
What about his open borders policy which is an official plank of a libertarian party
No thanks
Gotta win that election thingie, first.
He ran on the Libertarian ticket in 1988. Even then, he was openly anti-abortion, despite the LP's position.
But I don't recall anyone discussing immigration as an issue in 1988, which was two years after Reagan "solved" the problem with the Simpson-Mazzoli amnesty bill.
There is a grand canyon between knowing what is right and being able to do anything tangible about it. Back when President Reagan was in office, he had to make profound choices between what he knew was right and what was less important.
He ran the debt and the deficit way up, but he defeated the Soviet Union- a far more critical goal.
President Trump took on the critical, and many believed impossible goal of at least slashing some of the festering rot within the USG, and has to a great extent succeeded.
Ron Paul may have had crystal clear vision of what needed to be done, but his will forever be a journey not taken.
This is a Conservative website, NOT a Libertarian website.
You need to find the proper Libertarian website.

This is the party platform position he ran on in 1988.
1988 Libertarian Party Platform
17. IMMIGRATION
We hold that human rights should not be denied or abridged on the basis of nationality. We condemn massive roundups of Hispanic Americans and others by the federal government in its hunt for individuals not possessing required government documents. We strongly oppose all measures that would punish employers who hire undocumented workers. Such measures repress free enterprise, harass workers, and systematically discourage employers from hiring Hispanics.
Undocumented non-citizens should not be denied the fundamental freedom to labor and to move about unmolested Furthermore, immigration must not be restricted for reasons of race, religion, political creed, age, or sexual preference.
We therefore call for the elimination of all restrictions on immigration, the abolition of the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the Border Patrol. and a declaration of full amnesty for all people who have entered the country illegally. We oppose government welfare payments to non-citizens just as we oppose government welfare payments to all other persons.
Because we support the right of workers to cross borders without harassment, we oppose all government-mandated “temporary worker” plans. Specifically, we condemn attempts to revive the Bracero Program as government imposition of second class status on Mexican-bom workers.
We welcome all refugees to our shores and condemn the efforts of U.S. officials to create a new “Berlin Wall” which would keep them captive. We condemn the U.S. government’s policy of barring those refugees from our shores and preventing Americans from assisting their passage to help them escape tyranny or improve their economic prospects.
How has Ron Paul handled his own money and investments over the last 25 years? He is a well known gold bug but has invested in gold mining stocks. The return on them has been lower than buying physical gold or a gold ETF. So he screwed that one up.
The loony Libertarian Party has always been for legalizing pot. Some have been for legalizing all drugs. This policy has wrecked California and Colorado etc. They have been open borders. Isolationists too, yeah let the Muslims, China and Russia take over the world and work against US interests. What better way to tank the US Dollar?
But what about Pat Buchanan?
Now Barry Goldwater!!!
>>”Ron Paul opposed open borders when he ran as a Republican in 2008 and 2012.”
In other words he flip flopped when he wanted the nomination.
When asked, he specifically rejected the LP's position on abortion.
I don't know if he was ever asked about his position on immigration in 1988, but when asked in later years, he rejected open borders.
I think Paul is one of the few people who spent decades in Congress, and did not walk away with an 8 figure bank account.
Which I think says much about his honesty and integrity.
Uncle Miltie (Angelino97’s 100% anti-Semitic lie: “Settlers tend to be ultra-Orthodox Jews, armed with Uzis.”)
Jewish persecution of Christians in the Holy Land on the rise, research reveals.
The perpetrators? In most identified cases, young ultra-Orthodox Jewish men associated with religious nationalist groups were behind the assaults.
I don't believe he ever supported open borders.
There are plenty of Democrats and Republicans that ignore their parties' platforms. Why impute the LP's 1988 platform on Paul?
You already mentioned abortion, but he chose his party and it’s permanent platform.
Here he is in 1988 it matches his party platform.
— “As in our country’s first 150 years, there shouldn’t be any immigration policy at all. We should welcome everyone who wants to come here and work.”
Agreed. And there were a few things I disagree with Ron Paul on. But on the things he was right about (i.e. auditing the Fed) he was adamantly for without mealy mouthing at all. Of the things we all agreed with him on, we should have talked about him highly, and respectfully disagreed with him on the others (i.e. I don’t blame us for the Sep 11 attacks).
