Zelenskyy forced to rethink anti-corruption law after public backlash

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to introduce new legislation that will restore the independence of anti-corruption agencies in Ukraine after fierce public opposition and international condemnation over signing a law that targeted Ukraine’s independent anti-corruption institutions.

In a sudden turn of events, Zelenskyy posted a video on X in which he said, "Of course, everyone has heard what people are saying these days – on social media, to each other, on the streets. It's not falling on deaf ears. We analyzed all concerns, all aspects of what needs to be changed and what needs to be stepped up.

"I will propose a bill to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine that will be the response. It will ensure the strength of the rule of law system, and there will be no Russian influence or interference in the activities of law enforcement. And very importantly – all the norms for the independence of anti-corruption institutions will be in place," he said according to a translated version on the screen.

Wait, what? Ukrainians are anti-anti-corruption? So they’re pro-corruption?

Jeez, calling this decision a “sudden turn of events” is the understatement of the decade. ZEEPERS will be appalled at the change in direction. Well, maybe they won’t… they’ll simply shift into “OCEANIA HAS ALWAYS BEEN AT WAR WITH EASTASIA” mode and follow Neocon orders.

Z will call in the smartest person Joe Biden ever met to lead all of the investigations into corruption. First, he has to corner the market on cocaine in order to adequately compensate the expert.

Zelensky’s attempt to sideline an anti-corruption body echoes Trump’s pattern of discrediting or dismantling key institutions. In both cases, leaders sought to justify these moves as protective measures against an internal threat — whether it be Russian saboteurs / spies in Ukraine or “Deep State” people infested in America’s institutions.

What Zelensky wants to do is to weaken Russian infiltration of certain Ukrainian institutions.

However, I don’t think he should pursue this idea in this specific case. He should keep the so called “anti-corruption” body intact - if it’s the will of the Ukrainian people.

Instead, he should double down on anti-spy measures, eliminating the Russian spies right now operating there... They already got a few, the video was published yesterday showing it.

By the way... great that Trump leaves the corrupted UNESCO.

Suppression of Opposition:

Independent media and political opponents who challenge corruption are often targeted through intimidation, censorship, and imprisonment, according to Wikipedia.

“Putin. Corruption.”:

Forms of Corruption:

The report and other accounts detail various forms of corruption, including bribery, influence peddling, and embezzlement, according to Wikipedia.

Lack of Transparency:

The political system under Putin has been criticized for a lack of transparency, making it difficult to investigate and hold those involved in corruption accountable

Zelensky better be careful. Those Ukraine nazis might burn down the government buildings like they did with the Odessa Trade Union building when they fried 51 Russian Ukraine citizens inside.
