Ooops ping.
There’s a reason they warn you about going into an MRI room with metal on or in you.
Probably broke his neck to go that quickly.
That being said, who wears a 20-pound chain used for weightlifting into a hospital? Not only that, but isn't it common knowledge that the MRI machine produces a strong magnetic field?
Seems this could have been avoided by using some common sense.
There’s nothing common about common sense these days. You can’t fix stupid. 20#’s of chain is not a small item. This guy carried his training way too far. There’s “dedicated too”, then there’s neurotic. I feel sorry for those folks but damn, just damn.
St. Peter at the pearly gates to the dead guy:
“You wore what!?”

There’s probably warning stickers outside the door that include a picture of a large U-shaped magnet and a list of examples of what not to do. I’m guessing “20-pound chain for weightlifting” was not explicitly listed as an example of a loose metal object. It will be added later this year.
One of the reasons the MRI has an emergency kill switch (for the machine, not a person). I guess it became moot.
Is the MRI manufactured by Acme? W. E. Coyote wants to know if they make Roadrunner sized chains.
one way to find out it’s not a real gold necklace...
“She told News 12 that the technician summoned into the room her husband, who was wearing a 20-pound chain”
Whatever that means
I wonder what the tech’s side of the story is
I have had two MRIs in my life. Before you go in or out, you are briefed about metal at least twice and there are huge warning signs. They also have technicians who are trained to assist getting on and off.
Why was the machine running if the MRI was over?
Weird tale...
See if she just took out a life insurance policy on him.
Darwin Award ping.
Obviously there was a ball at the end of that chain. She couldn’t get off the table.
“she was undergoing an MRI on her knee when she asked the technician to get her husband, Keith McAllister, to help her get off the table.”
Somethings not right with this story.
Why would she need her husband for assistance?.....that’s what the techs are for.
Agreed.....I wonder if the source has the facts wrong.....Heaven forbid we should have accuracy in news reporting nowadays.

MRIs are “always on” as far as the magnets are concerned. Starting up an MRI machine takes a while and a lot of liquid helium to get everything to super conducting temperaturs.
The noise you hear while it’s running is related to the gradient coils, not the strong magnetic field.
Makes no sense whatsoever.
