Embarrassing REAL reason Stephen Colbert's show was canceled after bosses hatched plot while star vacationed

CBS canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert because it was losing $40 million a year, it was claimed.

Puck journalist Matthew Belloni revealed Colbert's astonishing lack of profitability Friday, hours after CNN first broke the news that the show was canceled because it was in the red.

Belloni outlined how The Late Show - whose cancelation was announced Thursday - costs $100m a year to produce, with Colbert, 61, getting paid between $15 million and $20 million a year to host.

So $20 million for that putz Colbert, but that leaves $80 million for what? Paying actors to appear? Kicking back millions to the Democrats? Chipping in for Hunter's monthly coke bills?

I heard add 200 schleps behind the scenes to produce this rancid tripe. Add non labor related overhead and it’s believable

What was the “real” reason CBS canceled Colbert?

This is explained by one of my favorite jokes -

A guy is in the desert, out of water, food, and quickly running out of hope. He's on his belly, crawling towards what he thinks is a pool of water. But, it's a mirage. There is nothing!

He rolls onto his back, and with the last of his life's energy, yells “WHY ME LORD????!!!!!!! WHY ME?”

And from the Heavens comes this booming voice “Because Ralph, there is something about you that just pisses me off!”

That appears to be the expected proportion of support to crap-’talent’ in order to make the lib appear to be almost normal.

Before Paramount, CBS made a decision to hire a left wing crank and ignore any attempt to appeal to a wider audience, and now that they are trying to court Paramount, they can no longer afford this liability.

And after they help elect Mamdani, all 200 staffers are going to move to Florida, and try to turn it blue.

Cost $100 Million to make, brought in $60 Million, making a loss of $40 Million every year.
Should have been canceled long ago.

CBS knew it was horribly unprofitable months ago. They continued to support it in an effort to fight Trump’s election. They knew no reasonable person watches the show, but every night there was a chance a guest or Kimmel himself might say something witty against Trump that would be a sound bite on the “mainstream“ media the next day, or otherwise go viral.

Even that weak reason was upended my the Trump curse! Yeah!

$100 Million a year to produce, with $15-20 Million going to the alleged “comedian.”

How many houseless persons with food insecurity, most with no healthcare, many of them undocumented immigrants, would have been helped had those millions of dollars been invested in Dem programs to help them instead of trying for cheap laughs?

Hmmmmmmm?

There are usually hundreds of back stage people handling everything on these shows.

It’s about money and Colbert, along with Kimmel and Fallon are not making any.

During the heyday of Johnny Carson he was drawing about 8 Million a night, The Tonight Show was the most profitable show NBC had and they could pay Carson whatever he wanted because he delivered the Key Demographics advertisers wanted. Adjusted for inflation Carson’s show was probably the most profitable of all TV shows ever.

“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert because it was losing $40 million a year”
****************************
I wonder how long they’ve been losing that kind of money but kept him on anyway just so he could badger Trump and the Republicans. I guess that plan didn’t work so they decided to finally dump him. And I agree with Trump Kimmel is even more annoying with his arrogant and smug attitude. Be nice if they dump him next.
