This is an excellent example of thinking outside the box. Great initiative to whoever came up with the idea.

The increase in raids on businesses should diminish job opportunities for illegals. Once the IRS gets serious about audits and criminal referrals for these scofflaws, things should pick up.

I grew up with what was at the time the largest minefield in the world between us on the base at GITMO and communist Cuba.

“People who know the region say the real problem is the Tohono O’odham Reservation border with Mexico”

That problem is likely to get even more concentrated there.

From Tohono O’odham, West to the California border will be the new National Defense Area. If it’s border wall system is not already complete, it likely will be in about a year (full funding for the wall has now been appropriated).

From Ft. Huachuca, East to El Paso is the first National Defense Area - with also mostly complete barrier, and with it’s remaining gaps likely to be completed in the relatively near term. From Ft. Huachuca West to Nogales is now on contract to complete the border wall system, after which the National Defense Area from Ft. Huachuca will likely be extended to Nogales.

Relatively speaking, Tohono O’odham will increasingly become the only remaining opening for regular smuggling in Arizona.

They got improved monitoring technology on new observation towers during the first Trump Administration (”electronic fence”), but not the 30 foot Trump-style border wall system.
