Trump, Rutte announce 'really big' NATO arms package amid new 50 day deadline

President Donald Trump on Monday confirmed that the U.S. has agreed to sell arms to NATO just moments after he said Russian President Vladimir Putin has 50 days to secure a peace deal with Ukraine or face "100%" tariffs.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said Trump called him on Thursday to confirm he wanted to enter into a deal with NATO allies to sell them arms for aid to Ukraine.

Trump said billions of dollars worth of U.S. arms would be purchased from allies like Germany, Finland and Denmark that will be "quickly distributed" to Ukraine.

"This is really big," Rutte told reporters from the Oval Office sitting alongside Trump. Rutte, who said the decision was built on the "tremendous success" of last month’s NATO summit when nearly every nation in the alliance agreed to increase their defense spending to reach 5% of their nation’s GDP, called the move "logical."

“I am very disappointed with President Putin. I thought he was a man of his word, but he is bombing everyone,” Trump told journalists at Andrews Air Force Base.

Never mind that we’re running low on Patriot missiles and interceptors and don’t have any to spare to send to Ukraine.

NATO military supply transport flights to Poland with weapons and ammo deliveries to Ukraine are back. Lots of deliveries so far today from Germany and the UK.

Ukraine has just over 2 dozen German Gepard anti-air systems, but not much ammunition. Ukraine needs to maintain a surviving number of at least 800 of these systems, and several millions of rounds of ammunition. But Ukraine has barely been able to get some thousands of rounds of ammunition, sporadically:

IIRC, Repkon (Mesquite, TX) Line 1 was supposed to be producing 2,500 155mm artillery shell parts per month, by June 15th. Or at least, that was the story 1 year ago. After 3 years of war, western countries promising ammunition, continue to fumble production. It seems.

Agreed. And maybe those aren't part of the arms sales. Let's read it again:

President Donald Trump on Monday confirmed that the U.S. has agreed to sell arms to NATO...

Maybe Trump is selling illegals. Each of them has two arms.

I had my hopes up but this is a business deal disguised as ‘getting tough on Russia’. Defense contractors will be happy. Putin will be happy as he as ‘50 days’ to annex more Ukranian territory (after which what ? ). Nothing changes on the ground except more bloodshed. More lives lost.

“...Russian President Vladimir Putin has 50 days to secure a peace deal with Ukraine or face “100%” tariffs.”

Hope this happens before winter sets in and Russia cuts of their natural gas shipments vital to covering our energy demands. (They supply about 10% of our needs, and not storage) Otherwise it could be a cold winter for the right coast.

The DOD doesn't release weapons stockpile figures. So where do you get your information?

“..., but he is bombing everyone,”.

Define, “everyone.” Does that include members of NATO, which the Ukraine is not a part of?

Fake news! According to certain Freepers, Russia was on the brink of defeating Ukraine just a couple of weeks after invading. And then surely by the next winter. And then maybe by the end of the first year. And then quite likely by the end of the second year. Oh well, these Freepers are sure gonna be gruff about this.

A lot can happen in 50 days. The Russian Revolution was only ten days.
