Major loss. Not just because of losing the lodge, but because I lack confidence that any replacement building will be nearly as cool.
The National Park great lodges are real Americana.
Containment and fighting delayed cost America this part of history.
As I read it appears to be wokeness in play.
Cant use chemicals, gotta protect the environment.
So everything has to die
With Trump in office, we may get a good replacement “
I sure hope so, staying there was on our bucket list
Agreed.
This hurts. I had my first view of the canyon from the patio of this lodge.
If Kamala had won there would already be plans rolled out to build section 8 housing there.

Me too. Maybe the brick and stonework is still intact and the wood parts can be replaced.
Thought it had burned a few years ago.
Kamala would have built a western saloon.
Lightning started fire. Because it was “natural” they decided to let it burn. Then they lost control of it. The NPS extremists destroyed this 100 year old treasure and that entire north rim visitor area.
IIRC, Theadore Roosevelt built that lodge, back whenever. It was a beautiful place, even more so since you were typically a bit loopy from being at 10,000 feet.
You really nailed it. Thank you.
Because they are lazy ass morons, they decided to let nature take its course.
We should start a letter and email writing campaign demanding the firing of the decision makers.

Theodore Roosevelt had been dead for years when the Grand Canyon Lodge was built.
I sent mine. I encourage everyone who is fed up with Federal land management and its numerous bureaucratic failures to tell The Donald to ream them out.

Regardless, taxpayers built it. I'm sick of politicians taking credit for this stuff.
Actually, it was built by the Utah Parks Company, a subsidiary of the Union Pacific Railroad. I don’t know how much taxpayer money was used, if any, either in the original construction or in the rebuilding after the 1932 fire.
