Should never have got tax dollars in the first place.
LOL. Give this AP reporter an "A" for ramping up the emotion in this sob story. Evil Trump denies a poor little 8-year-old, who loves his mother, the chance to be with his friends.
Like summer lunch programs... parents wanting tax payers to feed their children. Not that anyone wants kids to go without food... but, give me a break: feed your own kids.
Most of these articles begin with some maudlin tale. When you click on the story you should be able to click on a background audio of a violin playing to really capture the mood.
Find donors....justify yourselves.
If the federal government ever paid for this sort of thing, charge everyone involved in the unconstitutional diversion of public funds.
“she laughed about braving a flash flood warning to get there.”
Given the deaths in Texas, what sort of moron thinks “braving flash flood warnings” was laudable, much less a laughing matter?
RE: COMMUNITY FUNDS
Our community’s Boys and Girls Club gets funding from community funds.
It would be
Interesting to see what the budgets actually are.
High salaries, health insurance, and retirement bankrupt organizations like this. You can raise just so much $$$.
He won't even let them play together.
““It costs $220 a week,” Reyes said, her eyes expanding. “I can’t afford that.”
My parents couldn’t afford to send me to summer camp so I didn’t go.
We made our own neighborhood activities.
The Boy Scouts program operated without government funds, at least before it was putrefied.
Apparently, they get chicken nuggets at these clubs. I’m guessing a lot of the kids are on SNAP. Why is it SNAP doesn’t deduct the 360 free breakfasts and lunches students get a year along with the free weekend food boxes? Then there’s the summer free lunches for ages 0-21. Then being on SNAP gets them into even income limit food pantries as many as they can get to every month. Then there are churches and other charities. It’s no wonder they have always sold their excess food stamps for 50 cents on the dollar. Most states believe a person needs $350/mo for at home food (not counting take out) plus free phones, free internet, discounted utilities, etc.
My house doesn’t get assistance, though we probably should be eligible. We pay for our shared phone and utilities with hard earned job paychecks and have always spent 1/3 what the government hands out for food and we eat just fine. If these women have a problem with the child care costs, sell their food stamps, stop going to the salon, stop filling the guest room to the rafters with oh so cute shoes and cosmetics they’ll never use. Stop stealing my tax dollars.
That one family’s dad could take 2 hours from his Uber to care for the kids. But this is nothing but a big whine fest. The other has a 14 year old to take care of the younger kid. Sorry, boo hoo, lots of kids don’t get to play football and how much would that cost the family, huh? My dad died when I was 6 so I walked home from school and did my homework and house chores until mom got home every year until graduation.
The government should not be in the business of feeding anyboudy outside its own cafeterias and the military.
Boys Clubs and Girls Clubs used to be separate, until the feminists demanded that they be unified. Can't have little boys just playing with other little boys without any girls around.
Women and children are going to be hurt, old people eating dog food, children living in the streets.
Been hearing this same ol’ song & dance since President Reagan was in office. Probably goes back longer than that...
Later that day, Trump stopped by in person and stole his crutch and drowned his puppy. Sheesh, you'd think the media would report the whole story!
geez all the people who give to the united way every year, and the united way is not giving money to the boys and girls clubs anymore??
If you want to support a certain charity, donate directly to that charity. When you donate through United Way, United Way takes a chunk.
FFA is up and running. As is the Ferguson Club, VBS and church camps.
