The EU is prepared to take the necessary steps to safeguard its interests if the U.S. proceeds with imposing a 30% tariff on European goods starting Aug 1, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Saturday.
Von der Leyen, who heads the EU's executive arm, said in a statement that the bloc remained ready "to continue working towards an agreement by Aug 1".
"Few economies in the world match the European Union's level of openness and adherence to fair trading practices," she continued.
"We will take all necessary steps to safeguard EU interests, including the adoption of proportionate countermeasures if required."

von der Leyen behaves just like a German fascist. So I wonder if she’ll declare unrestricted submarine warfare. Remember, they’ve resorted to that before. It’s in their playbook.

She’s had 7 children and this is not enough, since she is running the EU. She is an energizer bunny. Both parents are German.

I'm not that passionate over wine or cheese. I had my Peugeot and Renault experiences on the 80's. I had my British car experience in the 70's. Tins of boiled puddings aren't my favorite. The US isn't importing Bass Ale anymore.I don't care for fermented and dehydrated fish. The EU doesn't make electronics or computers because the engineers can't find the best spot for them to leak oil. I am an Allen Bradley-Rockwell guy, not a Siemens prophy bus nitwit. I don't care for ABB controls. I like my Cutler-Hammer and Allen Bradley controls.
My business trips to the EU found me feeding from vending machines, selecting the boiled egg, toast or crackers.
France was good food. Good lodging. Mediocre wine. But nobody cared to work and got pissy if you said "good morning" more than once.

I don’t know, we pretty much kiss their behinds when they tell us to jump regarding Ukraine and their phony fear of Russia.
Yeah. I am sick of them. I don’t know why we call them allies.

British goods are covered under another trade agreement since Great Britain is not part of the EU.

POTUS has the ultimate “trump” card.
Simply announce that any trade deal with the EU has a perpetual 30% tariff. No matter what.
However, should individual European countries desire a deal, their CEILING is 20% tariff.
