Show me the money.

I believe electric cars will be a huge part of the future, but not with the current crop of batteries.

Everyone is working on safe lighter batteries that charge faster and go much further. China is selling some already I think.

That’s why I wouldn’t buy electric yet.

Nothing wrong with hybrid, which is a way to get more mileage.

Companies have been working to improve EV batteries for over a century, especially over the last 20 or so years.

As of current EV batteries, the improvements have only led to about 5-10% longer battery drive distance, and not much in lifetime improvement. And China has not really done much to change the distance driven or lifespan or costs.

So, don't hold your breath for major improvements in EV cars or EV batteries.

Hybrids work well and are a good fit for existing battery technology. Maybe a good compromise would have been tax credits for hybrids instead of EVs. Then again, hybrid sales have been increasing without credits (to something like 20% of vehicle sales) so it’s not needed. It also shows that people will adopt a new technology if it really works.

We will eventually have nuclear plants everywhere. And yes, all cars will be electric.

The thing is that it may take us 100 years to do that.

France is ahead of us. They get % of their energy from nuclear.

Nothing wrong with hybrid, “

Sure there is. Two power sources means many more points of failure. Relax the absurd CAFE standards and ICE vehicles become very simple and very reliable.
