Thank you very much and God bless you.
Kevin Costner is not waiting to meet you.
Don't send them money.
And, yes, I know stories involving Hollywood and celebrities are better suited to General/Chat, I figured since this one involves actual scams, it was newsworthy.
Mods, please move if necessary.
There’s a sucker born every minute.
I will be Max Bialystock to some lucky gal.
Single narcissists are likely easy prey; they wouldn’t doubt that they were ever important enough to be chased or desired by an elite model or VIP.
I recently received a text saying something like “Hi Bob! I received the case of wine, but it was the 1987 Chardanay instead of the 1989 Burgandy. Please get back to me.”
I replied “Wrong number” to it. Then thought - oh crap. And did a search. Turns out it is a scam and then they use it to “befriend” you and bring you in deeper.
About two hours later I got the reply from the “wine guy”. “Hey - sorry about that. Yeah, they won’t refund me saying it was my mistake. You want a case of wine for cheap!? I can’t stand white wine.”
I blocked the number.
I used to reply to wrong number texts just out of courtesy. Then they started getting weird and I realized these were some sort of scam. No more.
The article is over long just to say people are gullible idiots.
Margaret, in the article (who left her husband for Kevin Costner) berated her sister for trying to thwart the Hollywood life she was meant to have.
At my work there were very good email filters to stop the crap. No system is perfect. One day, I received the email version of the Nigerian Scam. There was $35 million in my name. All I had to do was provide enough information.
I decided to have some fun. I responded with something close to:
“”Okay, to prove you all are on the up and up, please FedEx overnight $5,000 in gold bullion. Once I have proven that the gold is real, we can talk some more.””
The jokers on the other end actually responded:
“”I know understand you.””
I responded with
“”No kidding, Dick Tracy””
Apparently these people are marked as targets after following celeb-related accounts on Facebook.
All the celebrities I love are dead. Kind of makes it tough for scammers in my case.
Margaret is a moron, ad I don’t feel sorry for her.
*and I
If you make it to the end, you'll learn that Margaret has already moved on to another celebrity. Jonathan Roumie, the actor who portrays Jesus in "The Chosen." She's even converting to Catholicism.
The bank has flagged her ability to transfer money.
I long for the days of Nigerian princes with millions of dollars in cash.
Don’t be a dummy, be a schmarty.........
I think Sopia Loren is still alive. I am waiting for her.
“In one photo he sent, the actor leaned against the wooden headboard of a bed in a white T-shirt, holding a piece of paper that read, “it’s really me Kevin Costner I love you so much MARGARET i can’t wait to meet you MARGARET...
I’ll bring the wine and Gerbil’s ... it’s going to be a wild weekend MARGARET!””
Yes, I saw in the story that she is involved now with another impersonator. Of course, the whole story may well be made up. Could “Margaret” really be that stupid? Who knows?
"Hold me... Touch me!"
