MOSCOW, July 2. /TASS/. The settlement memorandums that Russia and Ukraine exchanged are absolute opposites of each other, said Yulia Zhdanova, head of the Russian delegation at the Vienna talks on military security and arms control.
"During a speech to the press on June 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that our country is fundamentally ready for a third round of talks with Kiev. We assume that its agenda will include discussion of the draft settlement memorandums of Russia and Ukraine. At this time, these documents are total opposites, and the negotiations should aim to find ways to reconcile these positions," she said at a session of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation, according to a copy of her speech posted to the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website.
According to Zhdanova, the failure of the "Ukrainian-Western conglomerate" on the battlefield is obvious.
"None of the goals set by the West in using Ukraine as a military foothold to confront Russia has ever been and will ever be achieved," she said.
Sounds like they’ve got some work to do. Meanwhile, both sides seem willing to keep fighting so they will.
Why not a ceasefire with a DMZ along the current lines of control?
They can fight again ten years from now if they’re still into it.
Because inevitably there will be negotiated adjustments of the line of control to straighten and rationalize them which is just more opportunity for continued fighting, disagreements and retrenchments.

That is what NATO has been wanting forever. That way they can flood in jets, rockets, weapons, and most importantly, “advisors”, “peacekeepers” who will embed into every Uke position. They will set up no-fly zones with NATO jets and make impossible for Russia to strike back when the Ukes start their terror bombings, sabotage, etc. For example, if they blow up the Kerch Bridge... Russia wouldn’t be able to hit back.
Last, the Uke side is weak, THEY would be the ones to benefit from a breather to rest and refit.

Ouch.
Basically, if you are Uke, you really want a DMZ because you are back on your heels. You need NATO or that “coalition of the willing” coming in with a ton of weapons, jets, no fly zones, some kind of nato-lite or security assurances etc, so you cannot be attacked by Russia, no matter what you do. Russia was lied to at Minsk II and knows that any “no-Nato” promise isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. On any given morning at 1000 am, NATO could simply announce that “as of 0800 this morning, Ukraine is a full NATO member”.
Blackrock wants the ceasefire DMZ because they get the massive cash contracts with DC to rebuild Ukraine’s infrastructure.
And last, if you are Russian, a ceasefire DMZ doesn’t end the western Uke Galician nazi regime that is pathologically bent on killing Russians and is living in the 1940s. It does nothing to protect Russia from further attacks on infrastructure that Ukraine will deny, it does nothing to end agriculture, fertilizer and oil sanctions, or return the stolen Russian gold and currency or to turn SWIFT back on. And if you are Russian, you pretty much have the momentum and the best long term prospects. Also, the DMZ leaves Ukraine and NATO with the goal of capturing Crimea someday, and getting back the Donbas.
So basically, there is very little reason for Russia to want it, a lot of reasons for the west to want it, and huge reasons for our bankers to want a DMZ.
I’m just looking at a way to stop the dying. Beyond that, what’s motivating guys like you and Zelensky, I really don’t care.
Dude... I was just giving you my take on the DMZ thing and who might like it and why, and who wouldn’t and why.
I hope Zelinsky chokes on a chicken bone, and the dying over there doesn’t really affect me either way. I have no more motivation here that you do.... except I resent the way Ukraine has it’s booger hooks so deeply into DC.
