I have a question about this.

Who has the authority to give away our stuff?

When Lend-lease went through Congress in 1940-41 there was a big fight about it, took months of debate before it was passed into law.

FDR and General Marshall certainly didn’t think they had the authority to give away our stuff.

Probably hand-receipted to politicians who sell it to highest bidders.

« The US Constitution gives the POTUS primary responsibility for foreign relations..........«

But foreign relations doesn’t cover giving away government property.

This anonymous account does not tell us whose administration set these orders for munitions in train. It does not tell us whether the plant is producing these at full capacity. Is the plant working overtime?

If the bottleneck is the physical capacity of the plant, must a new plant be built? If a new plant must be built, is it not being built because, in our capitalist system, investors must have reasonable assurance of return of capital and that implies long term commitments from the government for munitions.

What has the administration done in this regard? It has been known for some time that this is a bottleneck. Has the president moved heaven and earth to fix it? -I see no record that he has.

Our support or betrayal of our commitment to Ukraine does not go unnoticed in Beijing. Those who want to abandon Ukraine when all indications are that Russia is equally hard-pressed, should know that our administration's ability to deter China from invading Taiwan, has much to do with our credibility over Ukraine.

To act out of pique in Ukraine at the price of inviting invasion of Taiwan is indeed to be penny wise and pound foolish.

Biden’s gone, but his problems seem to have lived on.

“Also, remember all the people here on FR who were saying that we were only sending our old stuff and not front line munitions we would actually need in a real fight? Yeah....”

They also assured us that those weapons were being replaced.
