New Yorkistan...
Don’t come here. Go to Florida. Del Boca Vista. Or Tuscany.
NYC’s limousine liberals have finally figured out that they are f*cked.
“Based on the results, clients are going to hold off on making any kind of investment in New York City.”
If that is accurate, those selling are going to lose money and those who do buy will buy at a discount.
Millionaires Go Missing
Wall Street Journal
May 27, 2009
Here's a two-minute drill in soak-the-rich economics:
Maryland couldn't balance its budget last year, so the state tried to close the shortfall by fleecing the wealthy. Politicians in Annapolis created a millionaire tax bracket, raising the top marginal income-tax rate to 6.25%. And because cities such as Baltimore and Bethesda also impose income taxes, the state-local tax rate can go as high as 9.45%. Governor Martin O'Malley, a dedicated class warrior, declared that these richest 0.3% of filers were "willing and able to pay their fair share." The Baltimore Sun predicted the rich would "grin and bear it."
One year later, nobody's grinning. One-third of the millionaires have disappeared from Maryland tax rolls. In 2008 roughly 3,000 million-dollar income tax returns were filed by the end of April. This year there were 2,000, which the state comptroller's office concedes is a "substantial decline." On those missing returns, the government collects 6.25% of nothing. Instead of the state coffers gaining the extra $106 million the politicians predicted, millionaires paid $100 million less in taxes than they did last year -- even at higher rates.
Freeze rents for years, free transportation, free childcare, increase wages for childcare workers, tax the s**t out of companies, house the homeless, and provide free mental health services for all.
It’s simple, just get the money from those who have it.
If that is accurate, those selling are going to lose money and those who do buy will buy at a discount....
old saying dont try to catch a falling knife
Spot on...no more economic refugees from the East Coast. We have 8 million people living here in North Texas, our roads are obsolete the day before new construction is completed.
I'd love to move to the Hill Country, but my kids and grandkids are all within 30 minutes of us.
Took them long enough.
I think they shouldn’t be allowed to move out of New York. They just infect other parts of the country with their inner party socialism.
You forgot, let the City run the groceries so that food prices will come down.
They all voted for him mow they’re fleeing to red states and taking their left-wing politics with them.
I foresee seeing more NY plates here in PA. Some people up my street moved here from there a few years ago, and my friend’s new girlfriend moved here from there.
“Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.”
H. L. Mencken
Hmm. You guys in PA sure don’t need more liberals moving in.
I left NJ in 81 and couldn’t stand NY’ers back then.
Where’s the line for people wanting to pay? These Blue zones are slow learners. If the people who own assets, earn income, or spend money they earn all disappear then there is nothing to tax and no revenue coming in. And what is vital for the rest of us not in such zones to do is not live or work those places & ninimize our time in such zones. Otherwise, the taxoholics will infect our lives with their nonsense.
They are now ruining the South.
