Rabren General Contractors is overseeing the construction of the new Gulf Shores High School on the Foley Beach Express.
On Tuesday, federal agents raided the site and arrested 37 workers suspected of being in the US illegally.
According to RGC’s website, it’s one of the largest privately held general contractors in the state of Alabama.
The website also shows RGC is building the new State House in Montgomery, student housing at Auburn University and the Margaritaville Resort in Orange Beach.
RGC also built the Saraland Sportsplex.

Stealing American jobs.
Send in ICE Barbie!
I live in the area (around Mobile). There are lots more to get between Mobile and Baldwin County.
“””Stealing American jobs. “””
As a guy who was in the construction biz all my life I can see both sides. The reality is that it is very difficult to find enough Americans who will do the work. It is sad because being a skilled tradesman these days is a golden ticket.
Too bad they didn’t FIRE this contractor over the collapse of the practice pavilion back in January.
Well there moving on out...moving on out
Its hard because many Americans couldn’t get hired because they didn’t speak Spanish or were passed over for Mexicans.
“”””Its hard because many Americans couldn’t get hired because they didn’t speak Spanish or were passed over for Mexicans.”””
That is the standard response, I hear it all the time, but it is not reality.
I had many family members who lived through it. They weren’t able to get work doing something they had done for years because of it. Tired of people making excuses for illegals.
The tip of the iceberg.
If they couldn’t get a job in the trades they weren’t looking.
employer arrested?
Whatever dude, they worked in for 20 years and then it got harder and harder to get a job. Keep making excuses for illegals.
That's horseshit and I'm sick & tired of people making excuses like this. The reason they can't find Americans is because they don't want to pay what it takes to hire Americans. There is never a labor shortage, there's a wage shortage and looking the other way while they truck in illegals to work for half the wage of Americans is doing nothing other than padding the pockets of crooks like RGC construction while the rest of us pay for the fallout from the influx of illegals. I don't give a damn if RGC construction only makes $10 million on a project instead of $20 million, stop making excuses for what is plainly and simply greedy companies working the system to pocket more money while we pay for it. They can hire all the Americans they need tomorrow but as long as we sit by and ignore their hiring of illegals they'll do it every single time because they're cheaper and that's all they care about.
I'm about 100 miles up the road from where this took place and when ICE is done there I hope they come and raid the chicken processing plants near me. They've been openly hiring illegals for the last 30 years and I'm sick of that too. Replacing Americans with illegals is destroying our country. And no, I don't care if the price of your chicken goes up or if RGC construction doesn't make their quarterly profit goals. If I had my way their C suite would be in jail right now.
What you are saying is that you have never been in the business and have no actual first hand experience in the hiring of people in the trades. It’s all I did all my life so I will just let you vent if it makes you feel better.
Then it sounds like you’re a crook too and had a hand in creating this problem. Hopefully they’ll raid you too.
In the 1990s, when it was called INS, they would check large construction sites around Chicago, and it was NOT Mexicans they were escorting out.
It was Irish and Romanian.
Almost all of my projects were for cities, schools, various government entities. I sent in certified payrolls all the time. I was audited many times by various government divisions. Not once did they find a single thing wrong. I won’t criticize you for not knowing anything about the industry.
