President Donald Trump said Monday that a deal with Iran regarding its nuclear program could be reached in the near term, and noted that Iranians have indicated to the administration they want to have discussions.
Trump shared his optimism during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney ahead of G7 sessions in Canada, on the heels of Israel taking out nuclear sites, refineries, and military leaders in Iran, and Iran responding by attacking Tel Aviv.
“Do you think a deal is achievable within days, within weeks? Is there that kind of runway?” a reporter asked Trump.
“Yeah, it’s achievable. Both parties have to agree. Yeah, sure,” he said.
When asked if Iran has expressed a desire to “de-escalate the conflict,” the president revealed that Iranians have communicated they would like to hold talks.

And never mind “trust, but verify.” It should be “Don’t trust for one minute until constantly verified.”
Get a crystal ball. Have a seance.
The premise for starting said talks should be, “First dismantle your nuclear program and allow unrestricted verification.” Then there should be some kind of positive assessment. In other words, a stick and carrot approach. My experience is that people don’t react well when they have no choices and are backed in a corner. They’d rather die than give in. Give some people choices, and they at least will think about it.
Trump epic trolling. Nobody thinks Iran’s regime will ever agree to give up their enrichment program. Trump is keeping the water muddy while Israel takes them out.
Maybe he should ask Obama to negotiate a deal, since that worked so well in the past. /s

This is merely a way for Trump to distance himself and us, probably with Bibi’s blessing, from the shellacking that the IDF is giving and will continue to give the Islamic Republic of Iran until Khamenei and all his thugs are either dead or exiled.

Trump is going to order the B-1s to finish off the deep underground facilities. Otherwise, this will need to be repeated in a few years.

Probably because all the folks they usually talk to are incommunicado (as in dead).
That said, Trump's not serious about a deal. The goal is regime change.
Iran will only use talks to delay what needs to be done they have never come to talks in good faith.
