Trump admin pauses ICE worksite enforcement for farming, hotel, restaurant industries

“Effective today, please hold on all work site enforcement investigations/operations on agriculture (including aquaculture and meat packing plants), restaurants and operating hotels,” a senior ICE official put out to other authorities, the New York Times reported.

The move from Trump comes as the president has promised to prioritize deporting those in the US illegally who have committed violent crimes, are threats to public safety, and are members of foreign terrorist gangs such as Tren de Aragua.

An email with the guidance was sent out on Thursday to regional ICE officials in the department that handles work site operations as well a criminal investigations. The email added that investigations involving “human trafficking, money laundering, drug smuggling into these industries" are good to conduct, but that "noncriminal collaterals," or illegal immigrants in the US who have not committed a crime aside from crossing the border illegally, were not to be detained.

“We will follow the president’s direction and continue to work to get the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens off of America’s streets,” the Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin told reporters.

Earlier this week on Truth Social, the president took a similar tact when it came to those in the US illegally that are working on farms or in other businesses, "Our great Farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace. In many cases the Criminals allowed into our Country by the VERY Stupid Biden Open Borders Policy are applying for those jobs. This is not good. We must protect our Farmers, but get the CRIMINALS OUT OF THE USA. Changes are coming!"

There's no reason for anybody to be upset about this.

Just wait a few days.

Slip, sliding away… hopeful the cheap labor Chamber of Commerce Republicans aren’t successfully asserting their corrupting influence.

If it was because they were prioritizing all the violent ones first, fine.

But I don’t think thats why, so not cool with it.

Why aren’t Americans doing this work? If you dropped out of school, have no prospects, or are just figuring things out… this should be your job. Are you too good to work? Second…if we do have to have foreigners, why don’t they have guest worker visas? They don’t have to be illegals. There are easy and legal fixes here.

So, to paraphrase Animal Farm: “All illegals are equal. Some illegals are more equal than others”. Unless Trump has something very special planned, this is a betrayal.

Dynamics of day labor. You need swarms of guys that will work “hard” 14 hours.... but each individual only on one or two days a week.

So all the exceptions together add up to a lot of voters illegally voting in the US and are counted as part of the states for the headcount to get extra members of the US House like California always gets. Unfair.

And just watch to see the news media and Dems like Hakeem and Schumer praise Trump and be nice to him from now on.
Won’t happen.

Idea. The El Salvadoran gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia should get a farm job and stay.

Employer can sign a paper saying he is an integral part of the work force for his enterprise and he needs to be free from ICE arrest.

The latest absurd PR photos include one of him in a straw hat near a wooden fence on a farm in Tennessee. Just a nice ol’ guy, it looks like.

As predicted in 2016 during the Republican primaries: A guy with his family businesses in construction, hotels, and golf courses is not going to commit economic suicide.

He went on this week about the beloved illegal employees that we’re going to “have to do something about” to help our farmers and hotels.

“Doing something about” them is giving them amnesty. Bush III.

Without illegals, farms and businesses would have to give their employees market-level wages. They would also have to provide competitive work conditions.

There is zero excuse for any exemptions in any industries.

Sickening.

Oh, and beyond bizarre, Trump also claimed that by enforcing the law with these illegal workers in these sectors we were forcing employers to replace them with worse, criminal gang-member illegals.

Pathetic!

I'm praying that Trump will discover a solution to this difficult problem that won't involve amnesty. There must be a way to solve this. It might be a painful process.

The solution is sending illegals home.

But oh, no, somehow we can’t do that for hotel workers!

The country will not fall apart if hoteliers are forced to pay for American workers.

I remembered a utility pole in the neighborhood that was replaced a couple of years ago. It was top-heavy and carried a lot of power and communications wires.

The power company had to replace the old obsolete pole, but it was a delicate operation. How to do this without interrupting power and communications? They installed a brand-new pole in the ground and nailed and lashed the sawed-off chunk of the old pole, which still carried many of the live lines, to the new one. I think they eventually replaced the old lines one by one and transferred them to the new pole. At last they were able to remove the old section of pole that had carried the old power lines. This took a while, but it eventually was finished.

It is my hope Trump can pull off a similar operation with the illegal aliens. This may take a while.

That’s not what he says he wants to do. And of course, he only has a couple more years.

Just like “Lock her up” in 2016, he campaigned on sending all illegals home. But it has taken less than 5 months for that to become inoperative.

...or illegal immigrants in the US who have not committed a crime aside from crossing the border illegally, were not to be detained.

The logic of that statement is so assailable it is not even funny.

Sanctuary cities and counties (even in red states) continue to coddle illegal aliens and allow them to commit a panoply of crimes on a daily basis because local prosecutors and judges have decriminalized many statutes, for the sole purpose of enabling illegals to continue to flourish and remain employed by law-breaking businesses who continue to employ them.

Despite driving without insurance, or even a license, thus endangering law-abiding motorists by ignoring traffic laws with impunity, committing malicious property damage and trespass in neighborhoods where they have been allowed to purchase and/or rent homes, and assaulting and threatening US citizens who try to report these criminal acts to local law enforcement.

In a sanctuary city or county, you no longer see a law enforcement presence anywhere. It has simply abdicated. Especially since Rodney King and Saint George neutered it.

You think illegals don't know this? So their arrogant disregard for law and order has gone through the roof, but is never reported. So the illegals are not apprehended, because the criminal statutes are no longer being enforced against them.

If you try to report an illegal alien for assault or property damage, you will not be allowed to do so. Instead, you will be told to hire a lawyer and sue the illegal alien in small claims court. I kid you not. You are told this with a straight face.

Trump is out of his mind to back off this hill.
