I'm about two thirds of the way through reading Pacific Crucible, an excellent history of the first few months of the war with Japan. Am just at the start of the pivotal battle at Midway, but I'm not sure whether the book will include a certain mission of P38's over the Japanese base at Rabaul which took out the architect of the Pearl Harbor attack, the conquests of Malaysia, Singapore, Dutch Indonesia, the Philippines, etc. We didn't always have scruples that forbade (as Indians might put it) doing the needful.
