WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The United States believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin's threatened retaliation against Ukraine over its drone attack last weekend has not happened yet in earnest and is likely to be a significant, multi-pronged strike, U.S. officials told Reuters.
The timing of the full Russian response was unclear, with one source saying it was expected within days. A second U.S. official said the retaliation was likely to include different kinds of air capabilities, including missiles and drones.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity. They did not detail Russia's expected targets nor elaborate on intelligence matters. The first official said Moscow's attack would be "asymmetrical," meaning that its approach and targeting would not mirror Ukraine's strike last weekend against Russian warplanes.

My personal guess is around 10 Oreshniks on the government buildings in Kiev. Maybe along with a thousand drones.
FTA: Another, senior, Western diplomat anticipated a further devastating assault by Moscow. “It will be huge, vicious and unrelenting,” the diplomat said. “But the Ukrainians are brave people.”
I don’t know. Which US says what? The one we voted for, or the other one who operates behind his back?
… including nato’s hidden “advisory” headquarters
Yes, probably what you describe combined with a massive ground assault, maybe with Kiev as a target.
History suggests the reprisal for Ukraine’s strikes on Russia’s warplanes will be a response that will only escalate the war instead of progress towards peace.
This purportedly…

BTW I have no idea if true, but posting for discussion
“US officials” anonymous essentially advocating for more attacks by Russia on Ukraine.
Sounds like warhawks to me, or Reuters pushing for more war.
The first night of increased Russian strikes in retaliation for Operation Spider Web was well above average - something like 80 cruise missiles, and over 400 drones and decoys. An Oreshnik that was launched broke apart in flight over Kazakhstan, and a planned Iskander launch was interdicted on the ground at the Bryansk Airport.
Last night however (2nd night), was back down to average - 9 cruise missiles and about 200 drones/decoys. Notably, Russian Aerospace Forces also dropped some glide bombs (JDAM equivalents) into the border city of Kharkiv, killing one woman and hospitalizing 19 other civilians, out of a city of over 1.4 million residents.
Russian glide bombs are delivered tactically by their fighter jets from just inside the Russian border, and have a range of 35-45 miles from the release point, putting civilian population centers near the border, like Kharkiv and Sumy within range, but risking Russian fighter jets to deliver them. The new extended range version (UMPK-PD) is reported to have a range of about 55 miles.
Just today, a Russian Su-35 fighter jet was shot down over Russia’s Kursk Oblast by Ukrainian F-16s, demonstrating the contested nature of the airspace near the border and frontlines.
Well why not send 100 drones and take out Putin and end this war?
Elon got Starlink and all the target strike coordinates, take him out.
Death to Putin!
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) carried out an aerial bombing campaign against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia during the Kosovo War. The air strikes lasted from 24 March 1999 to 10 June 1999
I don’t think it’s even started. I think those who were cheering keep trying to convince themselves that it’s come and gone and thus more proof they can cross Putin’s red lines with impunity.
Sounds like a Freeper dream, taking out one of the kids in the park.
There seems little doubt as to the results of the Ukranian drone strike: 40+ valuable aircraft destroyed.
Precisely what the Russians achieve with their daily missile and drone attacks on Ukraine is really not clear - it is a little strange that it is the super-power that has to resort to “asymmetrical” warfare.
My speculation is Russia has nowhere enough effective forces to make any kind of successful breakthrough of any meaningful distance certainly not Kiev.
At best I see a battle of the bulge situation where he masses every thing he can and then is unable to supply and sustain any gains.
If they do launch massive waves of drones and missiles, that will deplete what they have stocked up and then they will look weak when the number plummet.
The damage to pitin has been done, he could not protect Russia from the untermensch.
Yup
Russia left planes out in the open to show good faith effort to deter nuclear war.
Attacking those planes was plain stupid.
Also, occurring the same days, taking out passenger trains and killing Civilians is what the losing side of a war does
Expect Russia to smash Z, and his n@zi minions, in the mouth
Reminds me of a line from a Doors song:
Did you stop it to consider?
How it will feel
Cold, grinding grizzly bear jaws hot on your heels
Shaman’s Blues
