MI State Rep. James DeSana (R-Carleton) today held a press conference to announce the introduction of House Resolution 118, which contains three Articles of Impeachment against Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.
“As a legislator and lifelong Michigan resident, it is my belief that we are dealing with the most lawless Secretary of State in Michigan history,” said Rep. DeSana. “Not only has she flaunted numerous Michigan laws, but Michigan courts have ruled against her on seven separate occasions.”
The Articles cite numerous instances in which DeSana alleges Secretary Benson violated state and federal election laws, abused her authority, and disregarded rulings by Michigan courts.
Article I: Abuse of Authority and Legal Violations
Issued election guidance and mandates beyond her statutory authority.
Donated $82,500 to a judicial candidate through her PAC shortly before a case involving Benson appeared before the Michigan Supreme Court.
Unilaterally banned open carry near polling places without legislative approval.
Violated election law by presuming the validity of absentee ballot signatures.
Urged certification of the 2020 election despite serious concerns about the Wayne County canvass process.
Article II: Mishandling and Destruction of Election Records
Alleged discrepancies between electronic and paper voter records.
Ordered deletion of electronic poll book data only seven days after certification, violating federal law requiring a 22-month retention period.
Article III: Intimidation of Local Officials
Pressured local boards of canvassers to certify election results. Directed a local clerk to halt election duties without legal grounds.
“Even Secretary Benson’s attorney admitted in open court that she will only follow the laws she deems constitutional or agrees with,” said DeSana. “Her job is to enforce the law, not interpret or rewrite it. Since the Michigan Supreme Court and Attorney General won’t hold her accountable, it is up to the Legislature to act.
“This is a matter of accountability, transparency, and the integrity of our elections. If the people of Michigan are to trust our democratic process, we must ensure that those in power are held to the rule of law.”
Take the entire Michigan Democrat cabal out and Whitmer would be looking back wishing she was kidnapped instead of incarcerated for 10+ years.
HOORAY James DeSana! Gretchen Whitmer is the most EVIL governor in Michigan history.
“She and her entire camping trip are looking to steal the MI gubernatorial and mid-term elections again in order to maintain the cover-ups for herself, Whitmer, AG Nessel, and probably Shri Thanedar too just for being the moron of the Party.”
So no one is perfect, but she’s also not bad on the eyes, especially for Democrat.
Anyway, best of luck removing her, sounds like she needs to go.
She’s a hooker. She belongs on the streets, not in politics.
I think you need glasses.
“I think you need glasses.”
People have posted pictures of Rosa Delauro on this site. That’s her DNC competition...hopefully there’s no disagreement that this *!^@# wins out.
Benson is a Corrupt with a Big “C”. a Commie with a Big “C”, and a DemoRAT “C”.
She’s paying a big penalty for this. She was well paid. She helped out her friends. She pocketed the kickback money. She rigged a presidential election result. Now she gets to lose her job and move on. Whoop-de-do.
I bet she gets even further rewarded later.
EC
They are only able to do this now that Chris Wray is gone.
She, Whitmer and Nessel would just cook up some phony charges against DeSana and then get Wray to pull the train for them if Biden was still in power.
A buddy of mine is deeply involved in a high level in Michigans voter integrity movement. He told me about this last night. He’s pretty excite
The Republicans hold a slim majority in the house so an impeachment is a possibility. Good luck on getting a conviction in the senate. The Democrats have a 2 seat majority..
I think it’s to dirty the bishop for the Michigan gubernatorial “election”.
“The Republicans hold a slim majority in the house so an impeachment is a possibility.”
There are numerous Michigan House Republicans who are decently conservative or at least moderate-conservative.
But like U.S. House Republicans they are more united while in the minority, are not comfortable in the majority, and certainly aren’t going to be comfortable with something as “controversial” as this given (as always) totally united Democrat-media opposition.
I give this pretty much zero chance of even passing the House since the margin for passage is miniscule to begin with.
DOA in the Senate either way.
Perhaps this is all just a theatrical tactic which, even with nil probability of passage, is merely designed to hurt Benson’s campaign for Governor via negative publicity. I give that outcome pretty much zero chance too. The compliant Democrat media will cover up anything that might be considered damaging, while the Republicans will be portrayed as heartless meanies for going after the po’ sweet widdle girl.
Nothing will happen.
Wow, sign me up! Sounds like a nice gig.
Seems likely to me. I'll keep my post family friendly and say she is a piece of work. And that goes for Nessel too...
