Confusion and concern loom over Mexico's judicial election: Mexico is set to elect its judges, from the Supreme Court to local magistrates. But will the vote lessen corruption?

Monterrey, Mexico – There will be more than 7,000 candidates. More than 2,600 open positions. And at least six ballots per person to weigh them all.

On Sunday, Mexico embarks on an election believed to be the first of its kind: Voters will cast ballots for all of the country's judges, half now and half in 2027.

Judges of all levels will be in the running. Some candidates are competing to serve on the Supreme Court. Others are aiming for federal district or circuit courts. Still more are competing for the thousands of open positions on the state and local levels.

By one estimate, if a voter spent five minutes researching each federal candidate on their ballot, they would need more than 15 hours to complete the task.

Therein lies the dilemma, according to many election experts. While the Mexican government has touted the election as a milestone in democratic participation, critics fear the vote could in fact be vulnerable to political manipulation or criminal groups.

This seems pretty hugh and series to me. Gotta wonder how much the Donald may have had to do with this first-ever Mexico judicial elections idea?

Unfortunately affairs in Mexico are such that any person, who is wise, that wants to reform and fight the cartels is remaining silent and not running for fear of being assassinated.

It should be in case some hostile country wants to use Mexico as a staging area for covert attacks. They can easily buy their way into a corrupt country.

Are we sure you aren’t thinking of the United States?

Well, The US isn’t as bad a Mexico, Yet. But we are importing large swaths of the people who made a way of life of corruption from many countries. Places where open bribes are the normal way of doing business. Since technically Washington DC isn’t a state it’s more of a armed compound where civilized appearing warlords reside. An enclave of corruption in it’s own right.

My daughter went to Mexico for a bridal shower during elections a few years ago against my wishes. Jeeps with gun mounts everywhere. Scared her half to death. I didn’t need to say “told you so”

One has to be suicidal to run for any office in Mexico since the cartels own the country.

Yup, that’s right, bunky.

Corruption is being imported by the millions.

Think about that when a “hispanic” police officer hired under affirmative action laws pulls you over and then mentions that a c note could take care of the whole thing.

Welcome to Mehico, greengo!

Or you end up in “judge” Merchan’s courtroom, where the sob simply makes up the law out of thin air.

Coming’ soon when they are the mayority!

I wish we poor, third world Americans were allowed to elect “judges”. It would take the DemonRATS four or five years just to count the ballots.

In some parts of the US judges are elected by yes/no ballots with one judge per open position. This is just like voting for the Supreme Soviet in the USSR.

Until the cartels are eliminated corruption will run rampant.
