Ground breaking research can be done from anywhere - it’s doesn’t have to be done at commie US elite colleges.

Besides lot of American ‘research’ is done under stupid grants that favor liberals and it’s a waste of money.

America is at risk of losing its longstanding pre-eminence in the sciences
————
I lost all hope and respect after the deadly, unproven mRNA jabs were pushed. There is still “ science “ trying to prove how “ safe and effective “ they are, despite all the “ new” FDA warnings on them.

the NYT and the rest of the leftist propaganda media like to pretend that ALL “research” and all “researchers” are equal, e.g., Jennifer Doudna’se brilliant efforts to discover and elucidate the mechanisms of CRISPR are equal to, say, “researching” the fonts used to publish 16th century French feminist poetry ... personally, i suspect that at least 75% of all U.S. “research” falls into that latter type of “research” ... countries like China and India can’t afford to waste 75% of their research budgets on such nonsense ...

Labs will stagger? No. Need is the imperative that drives REAL research. That won’t go anywhere. What’s gonna stagger is the international Left that’s been hooking its car to the train bought with taxpayer money. And beside that, if “research” is such a benefit why aren’t the other nations coughing up for it and happy to do it.

Science that must have government grants is not science. It is institutional fantasy.

‘for decades’... since 2000 when H1bs were pushed to replace American STEM workers with cheap / shitty indian imports

and they’ve kept an iron grip on the hiring / recruiting for the field ever since

allowing Americans to enter their field instead of giving away entry levels jobs to cheap foreign labor would go a long way to re-establishing American dominance in STEM

Elon Musk is a strong proponent of H-1B visas.

Perhaps, a reform of the program is necessary. But Elon should be able to import the Engineers he needs to build his rockets.

the bs they’ve been pushing is that they’re only bringing in the best and brightest.
yet for some reason, they’re always cheaper, need to be trained, and take the entry level jobs.

the only imports should be those who are the best in the field.

as such, they should be paid above top rates.

Highly educated, you bet! We have yet to realize how intelligent they are! Genius problem solvers!

Elon Musk is from South Africa.

So naturally, we should be trying to attract the brightest folks from around the world.

Obviously, there should be a certain limits on critical specialties.

But Elon Musk should be able to get the top Engineers he needs from other countries.

What that really shows is the self-correcting nature of science! These cheating papers and journals represent a small minority of the total scientific literature, and they got caught!

It also shows that AI can enable cheaters to cheat, and can support faulty “peer review”! I think that the good “old fashioned way” is best for scientific research, publishing, and peer review!

“There’s only one way to get through MIT: the hard way.” -MIT President Sally Kornbluth. That’s also true for scientific research and publishing—as well as patenting!
