Ukraine rejected calls from Moscow and Washington to commit to engaging in peace talks with Russia next week, demanding to see Russian peace proposals before attending further negotiations.
In nationally televised remarks on Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, said Kyiv is dedicated, in principle, to continued peace negotiations with Russia. However, he stopped short of agreeing to the proposed Monday peace talks in Istanbul.
“We are ready for dialogue, but we demand clarity — clear and, most importantly, balanced proposals,” Mr. Yermak said.

They want to subject the Russian proposal to ridicule with the aid of the “Western Chorus”...prior to meeting.
As has been the norm, Russia says they will present their written position at the next meeting.
Just like the Viet Nam war was negotiated. Privately. Quietly.
I believe Vlad is channeling one of his heroes, Leonid Brezhnev. Brezhnev was famous for his negotiation method: “What’s mine is mine, what’s yours is negotiable.”
Ukraine is run by very stupid people and is in no position to demand anything.
Zelinsky is not the president of Ukraine. His term in office expired two years ago and he forbids democratic elections. Who side are we on again?
Rather, Ukraine was to see concrete proposals rather than vague statements. There is no reason for Russia to keep their proposals secret. Ukraine will eventually make them public in any case.
If Ukraine is so stupid, why hasn’t Russia taken over Ukraine during the last three and a half years and losing a factory a day by drone and 1,ooo soldiers every day?
And the war will continue.
And the war will continue.
And the war will continue.
And the war will continue.
It seems that you are not familiar with the Ukrainian constitution and its laws. In times of national emergency (which a war surely is) elections are forbidden and the president's term is prorogated. Zelensky is indeed the legitimate president of Ukraine.

Ukraine is stupid because they have over 1,000,000 dead soldiers because NATO wanted to expand eastward for no good reason and Ukraine decided to fight for NATO over that.
Stupid!!!!
“Ukraine was to see concrete proposals rather than vague statements”
They have done so on multiple occasions. They are the 5 oblasts, demilitarization and no NATO.
There’s no reason to think those are going to change.
The truly stupid people are the ones who don't know a lower case 'o' is not the same as a zero. 4th Grade dropout lecturing on international relations.
Zelensky hasn't unsigned his own formal declaration of never meeting Putin, so he won't meet Putin. Putin won't stop. Zelensky always maintains no loss of Ukraine is allowable, yet, plenty has been lost.
Zelensky wants the war to continue to bring him millions of dollars he will continue to pocket. That is it.
Putin wants more land that is close to Moscow.
It's incredibly easy to see where this goes, as “Other People's Money” finally dries up.
Poland, say “Hello” to your new Russian friend.
Putin’s demands go well beyond that. Zelensky wants Russia to make them public, official, and specific.
Still buying that lie? It was Ukraine that was demanding it, not NATO. NATO kept saying no. Furthermore, by NATO's own charter Ukraine was barred from joining as long as there Russia was occupying Ukrainian land and there was a border dispute. But this will not stop Russian apologists from repeating this false claim.
Russia has already provided a terms sheet and the Ukraine is fully aware of the Russian position.
This is one more case of Zelensky is actively working to torpedo any peace agreement while disingenuously trying to posture and position himself as the peacemaker. .
