In one of the nation’s first wrongful-death claims seeking to hold the fossil fuel industry accountable for its role in the changing climate, a Washington state woman is suing seven oil and gas companies, saying they contributed to an extraordinarily hot day that led to her mother’s fatal hyperthermia.

On June 28, 2021, an unusual heat wave culminated in a 108-degrees Fahrenheit day — the hottest ever recorded in the state, according to the filing. Leon had just driven 100 miles from home for an appointment, and she rolled down her windows on the way back because her car’s air conditioning wasn’t working.

Shouldn’t they be suing the manufacturer of the car’s air conditioning unit

They should all plead guilty, offer a settlement and announce that they would no longer sell their products in Washington state.

Keep in mind conservatives, you EMPOWER judges that will use lawsuits like these to SHUT DOWN energy availability in the US, when you sit out November elections. The Democrats need just ONE presidential election to go their way, to end life as we know in the US.

This family should stop eating immediately

Farmers use diesel in their field tractors

Trucks use diesel to take the agricultural products to market

The grocery store workers use gasoline to get to work

This family will use gases to drive to the grocery store

Stay home and starve

So she died while driving in a car with the windows down. Were there dead people laying all over the place??? Did everyone without air conditioning die that day??? I spent many days doing construction work in that kind of heat. Never saw anyone fall over dead. Maybe that was before climate change now that I think of it.

These psychopaths are getting louder and showing even more crazy of late.

I allude it to squeals you hear when you’re squeezing real, REAL hard in just the right place.

The looming silence will be cause to celebrate.

Yeah, we didn’t need a/c units a 100 years ago. At least the oil companies should pay our a/c bills!

Courts allowing their asinine type of case in the first place is tyranny plain and simple. Their judgement and influence is boundless. Courts are getting out of line in a large way.

Unfortunately we don’t have judges who would tell such a plaintiff get the hell out of here.

True. I know many Freepers have been pissed off about many recent GOP presidential nominees prior to Trump. All were too liberal and too RINO according to many here.

Yet the alternative is an idiot liberal Democrat. We often face less than inspiring candidates in elections. But we need to make our choices, even if we aren’t inspired by some.

“”If only she had drank a gallon of water.””

That advice sounds pretty sciencey and stuff. Liberals wouldn’t be able to understand it.

Good idea. They could offer her $10, and, as you say, don’t sell fuel in Washington anymore.

Big Oil has deeper pockets.

And then the question arises....

Why didn’t the daughter see to it that her mother had a ride or her car AC was fixed?????

It’s no secret that heat is hard on older adults. Prep for it and watch the forecasts.

It’s funny. Big oil sells their products in Ohio too. Yet we have had the coolest Memorial Day in decades.

We just came off a very cool WEEK.

I was going to get the tomatoes and peppers in and had to put it off. It got sown to 39 one night last week.

When it’s hot in one place, it’s cool in another.
