Former ‘Jeopardy!’ contestant challenges Rep. Hoyer

Former House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) received a primary challenge Thursday from volunteer firefighter and former “Jeopardy!” contestant Harry Jarin, who is seeking to make age a centerpiece of the campaign.

In a statement announcing his bid, Jarin, 35, said Hoyer, 85, “represents a bygone era of politics that isn’t working” and that congressional seats should not be treated as “lifetime appointments.”

“I’ve seen from the inside how the Democratic Party has totally lost touch with working people,” Jarin said. “We didn’t present a vision of the future or politicians that people could relate to, and that’s what opened the door for Trump and extremist Republicans to take power.”

Jarin sounds like an ageist little twit.

Viva la gerontocracia!

Reminds me when Reagan debated Mondale, the Gipper said...

“I won’t hold my opponent’s (youthful) age against him”

Is Jarin more leftist than Hoyer or as leftist as Hoyer? (No Democrat would be less leftist than Hoyer, without leaving the party.)

Somehow trying to replace the existing members of congress with different minds because they’re younger and in better tune with the media on the liberal side scares me to death.

Considering the media has been a consistent protector of the left and has been left out on the limb with the failure of the politicians over the last 16 years alone, it is frightening if they left is considering confusing their shelter with new ideas that are going to be even more idiotic than previous failures. Get ready for the whitewash. And the only difference from the Biden failures and the new crop will be that the new left will not be dementiac, just stupid.

And by aiming their recovery at the fellow youth and left voting sheep, it might work. But that’s contingent on if their plan is not recognized and made public for not telling the ruth and using people for their gain and not for the voters overall.

Longer than Nancy Pelosi. By seniority he was next in line for Speaker, but San Fran Nan worked her larger CA delegation to get her the gavel. Not that I want him either. I live in his district and always vote for the opposition.

I think it was more like “I won’t make an issue of my opponent’s youth and inexperience.” Mondale was in his mid-50s at the time.

Prince Georges County MD would rather have a black representative. The rest of his district would rather have a Republican representative. The result is a Cobgresscritter that no one really likes at all.
