After a marathon overnight session, House Republicans passed their multi-trillion-dollar tax breaks package, dubbed the "One Big Beautiful Bill."
The bill passed the chamber by a single vote, 215-214, with Democrats unanimously opposing and only two Republicans voting against, one of which represents Kentucky.
As expected, Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, of Kentucky's 4th District, which includes a lot of area just east of Louisville, was one of the two who broke from party.
When Massie began holding out, President Donald Trump lashed out about him, saying, "he doesn't understand government," and other various insults. Read more here.
Ohio Rep. Warren Davidson, who represents Ohio's 8th District, was the other.

The bill is absolute garbage and the ONLY reason why people support it is because our President does. Love him but this bill is garbage. If this were a Democrat sponsored bill (which you can’t tell the difference in the ungodly amount) every damned FReeper would be trashing it in unison. Fiscal conservatives no longer exist in Government and it’s obvious very few exist in this forum. It’s no longer about substance but “my guy supports it therefore I do.” What happened to DOGE and the trillions to cut? So we cut trillions (which was nothing but a window dressing) only to spend far more!? Today ended any hope for fiscal responsibility and cutting the deficit. If Trump isn’t going to do it then I guess a default is the only way to go. We WILL NOT recover from our debt. Ever.

So much crap was added to what Trump started with. Does it have to go to him? If so he should veto the mess. There is COVID, LGBT+ and all sorts of trash buried in there.

Hes also not accomplishing anything. He refuses to engage and thus gets nothing out of the bill. He could have pushed the bill to the right for his vote but he’s not smart enough to figure that out. If you’re not accomplishing anything then it may be better to complain from the outside.
