One, Big, Beautiful Bill PROTECTS Medicaid by REMOVING Illegals from the Program

The One, Big, Beautiful Bill is a generational chance to protect Medicaid for Americans by removing at least 1.4 million illegal immigrants from the program.

Read more in Breitbart:

“House Republicans are moving to block an estimated 1.4 million illegal aliens from receiving American taxpayer-funded Medicaid as Democrats struggle to message their support for the unpopular position.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee completed its markup of its portion of the budget reconciliation bill Wednesday morning after an all-night session which included a provision blocking anyone unable to verify citizenship, nationality, or satisfactory immigration status from coverage.

The committee projects 1.4 million illegal aliens will be removed from the program due to those requirements.”

I hope there are GOP congress people who follow F.R. U ALL will need to push the fact that the Medicare cuts are taking illegals off the program. The lame stream media is already claiming the GOP is cutting Medicare leaving out the details. Wake up GOP. Woke plays to win and the truth is merely an inconvenient fence they walk over.

If the Republicans don’t get their act together and pass legislation like this they will prove the Democrats who say Republicans can’t government are right.

No big deal....

Lets get some fruitcake Biden/Obama district judge from Crap-town blue America, to find that preventing foreign nationals who are illegally in our country, from taking our nations treasure by looting public programs made for US Citizens......is...of course....Unconstitutional.

Nation wide injunction...Trump attorneys held in contempt....etc...etc...etc..

I you are running a hospital and you are required by law to provide treatment that stabilizes all emergency room patients…but they don’t pay you anything…how many hospitals will go broke?

I am not suggesting we give illegals Medicaid. But you are forcing hospitals and providers into a very tenuous situation by forcing them to provide a high cost service for free.

Good point. Rescind the law that requires hospitals to provide services to those with no insurance (or can’t pay).

Can we get a bill passed that requires payback of funds and, if not forthcoming, we get a kidney, lung, liver lobe, and eyeball for immediate organ donation?

There are very few hospital ERs that would do that. There are some people with ethics still around.

Safety nets are there for the worst among us. I’ve seen way too many poor kids come through the Emergency Department.

I don’t have the answer. I guess not having the illegals here long enough to get sick is a good start.

Serious discussion, not meant to be banter. What would you think about negligence against the parents for not providing health care? Which would mean, not buying insurance (or being wealthy enough to cash flow it)?

My reasoning: What we're getting at is punishing the people at fault for the problem to begin with: the parents. As an analogy, I hate abortion mainly because the one being aborted isn't one of the two people who decided to make the "accidental" pregnancy. If those two were being aborted, accidental pregnancies would go way down and there'd be less arguing about how best to handle them. For the same reason, I hate welfare that helps drug addicts or gambling addicts -- that kind of welfare encourages bad behavior by protecting them from the natural consequences of their bad behavior. Thus they're less likely to learn to do differently because the taxpayers are the ones being punished.

In the case of poor kids needing medical treatment, I don't want to punish the hospitals or the taxpayers or the kid. I want the ones most responsible for the problem (the parents) to be the ones feeling the pain.

I agree with you.

The destruction of the family—especially in minority communities—is the basis for a lot of the ills in this country. Our culture has gone from family based to individual based.m. A quick review of social media would show that.

From the side of the hospitals, it seems like they don’t want to “fight back.” When I started digging into the financials of the health system where I worked I discovered that the group was carrying a bad debt load approaching $100,000,000 that had accumulated over years. So many patients come, get treated, and then they disappear. Even those with basic insurance often don’t even try to pay their co-pays.

And over the past few years the number of “uninsured” (even in the healthcare paradise of MA and Romneycare) showing up, getting treated, and walking out the door has skyrocketed. The ERs are clogged up because hospitals cannot afford to staff to the flow. And how can you staff if you are not getting revenue? But for some reason the companies don’t want to talk about it.

As I wrote…i don’t have the answer. But if these places are forced to treat for no revenue it will exacerbate an already existing mess.

Numbers. The WH apparently says 1.5 million illegals are getting Medicaid.

The definitions are in play here. In general, a person in the US with no immigration status is NOT eligible for Medicaid.

There are a few exceptions. Specifically, immunization services and treatment for communicable disease. This is viewed as a matter that affects the surrounding population, who could be infected by that illegal.

It is THAT which enables the WH to claim 1.5 million illegals are getting Medicaid. Immunizations and treatment for something infectious. These are NOT big expense numbers. Vax for typhoid (which is spreadable) is cheap.

The WH did not quote cost in a specific way. It said only that there are 1.5 million illegals getting it (which they may be at tiny expense).

These are not illegals with a broken leg who comes in and wants it fixed under Medicaid. Rather they will get stabilized under EMTALA, which is not Medicaid.

Much better move than rushing into increased work requirements for Americans, given that Americans need it most when they are unemployed.

Agreed.

And part of the problem is how easy it is to get on Medicaid. I believe Obamacare is a huge part.

According to https://www.statista.com/statistics/245344/number-of-people-in-the-us-covered-by-medicaid/

Year -- Millions on Medicaid
2023 -- 62.7
2022 -- 62
2021 -- 61.94
2020 -- 58.77
2019 -- 55.85
2018 -- 57.82
2017 -- 59.81 (Stated allowed to add work requirments)
2016 -- 62.3
2015 -- 62.38
2014 -- 61.65 (Obamacare expanded eligibility to 138% of poverty level)
2013 -- 54.92
2012 -- 50.9
2011 -- 50.84
2010 -- 48.53
2009 -- 47.85
2008 -- 42.83
2007 -- 39.69
2006 -- 38.37

Illegals have no right to be on any U.S. aid program. Now we know some of them are just decent folks looking for a better life, but if they aren’t vetted then how do we separate them from the criminals?

I have asked this question and have not gotten an answer...
How many pages are in this big beautiful bill?
Can it be read by an average person in 24 hours?
Or, do we have to pass it to know what is in it?

Then change the law.

Illegals need to be deported now!

All government assistance to illegals needs to be cut-off now!

Treat the patient and call ICE. They will stop coming to the hospital.

The Stupid Party fails (as usual) to clarify WHAT the Medicaid cuts are. We know, but the unwashed, intellectually stupid public hasn’t got a clue. I bet half of Congress is uninformed. They can’t see Ted’s flip charts and lawyers never heard of PowerPoint and projection screens. Republicans are pathetically incompetent in delivering a message.
