It’s funny how different people have different experiences. I have State Farm, and when I had a claim, the claims adjuster and others I dealt with were very professional and businesslike, and promptly processed my claim.
That’s fine, if you can afford to replace your house , if the worst ever happened.
If you have enough money to rebuild a destroyed house, then you can go on a cruise with money you would save on insurance.
The large Florida lot my house sits on is worth far more than the house.
State Farm made a highly unsuccesful bet on affilate reinsurance in California as I understand things.
Ouch!
This is what I did. Paid off the house and canceled the insurance.
You’re right, different people, different situations. Normally, if you had a good experience, you don’t really talk about it...but, bad...your mad. For good reason.
Yes, I can replace the house, but I am ready to move to a condo or even rent a nice apartment. Taking care of large yard is getting too much for me at age 85.
99.99% you will end up saving money. Unless you have a habit of being careless about smoking and throwing cigarette butts in dry grass around the house. Dont laugh that is exactly how a house in my sub-division started a fire.
Given the current laws in place in California , I’m not sure 30% is enough to make the numbers work in the black in California.
Most likely State Farm will be the next insurance company to exit the California Real Estate Insurance markets.
If I were an insurance company, I would likely leave the California unless I could raise rates considerably and profitably. I trust insurance companies more than the state government of California…….but only by a little.
I still remember when the house 400 ft north of me got hail damage. The one 500 feet south of me got hail damage and the one 1000 ft east of me got hail all the the same storm (no one to the west at that house)
Jake went up on my roof and said “it’s fine” we went back and forth and they wouldn’t pay.
I dumped them and got a refund. New company shows up and excludes the roof for.... You guessed it. Hail damage.
Ended up replacing it out of pocket.
Jake can kiss my backside.
In California, my 21st Century (Toggle) car insurance recently went from $137.94 to $172.55
No reason but I suspect the economy and illegals.
That is exactly my point. Insurance company does not consider your individual insurance situation. They take the easy way out, and passion to you cost of insuring others. Even taking money from one state to use theneu in another state like CA which restricts rate hikes.
Trust in insurance companies and the state government or California is a double mistake both are gouging experts.
