For months, big retailers have been warning that prices will rise.
Now, thanks to insider information from Target workers, the extent of the raises are becoming apparent. Staff say it is just the beginning.
A $9.99 USB-C cord from the store's in-house Heyday brand is now ringing up at $17.99, according to a self-identified employee on Reddit.
'It's happening,' the worker wrote, sharing a photo of the price tag update. 'All of Heyday is going up.'
The spike — an 80 percent increase — is being blamed on the latest wave of tariffs linked to President Donald Trump's trade policies.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
I’m having trouble understanding how a 10% tariff on Cheyna results in the consumer price almost doubling.
As if a Target Employee could be an Expert Economic Advisor.
I just went to the Target site- you can get an Anker, USB-C 10ft braided cord for $8.99, almost half price

Sounds like these retailers are trying to take advantage of their customers and make bank....while appearing to support .... ChyNah!!
This will all backfire, BIGLY.
Lil Rand will soon find out the same, probably.
Because of companies getting greedy on price hikes and being able to blame it all on TRUMP! TRUMP! TRUMP! to the gullible half of the populace.
Profiting off of most of their customer’s ignorance with regard to tariffs and basic math.
How much is this really going to affect the average consumer? Daily necessities like food, energy, shelter, etc. If Target increases the price of a USB cable, there are plenty of other sources. Amazon, EBay, ETSY, PoshMark, etc will be cheaper alternatives.
Yeah, you’re not alone. Also, people forget these are “reciprocal” tariffs. For example, the EU was adding a 12% tariff on US autos while we were only adding a 2% tariff on EU imported cars. Trump placed a reciprocal tariff on EU imported cars by increasing it to match their 12%. Reciprocal tariffs are kind of a tit-for-tat approach. Already the EU has said it will lower their tariffs to 2% in preliminary negotiations. While 50 countries have expressed interest in renegotiating tariffs, the US is concentrating on the top 19 trading partners. The price increases seen at Target seem to me to be excessive with respect to tariff changes.

It doesn’t. No justification for it at all. They think the market is stupid. The price fixing bandwagon has already started to roll... All suppliers will jump on soon, even with American products.
I called this months ago. Suppliers and merchants are crooked opportunists who will take advantage of any little reason to price fix across the board.
revenge gouging — like revenge market selling
Good thing I can’t remember the last time I went in a target
Uh Amazon has them for 8.99 with free shipping one lost target customer is one gained Amazon customer that’s the way the free market works Rand
“A $9.99 USB-C cord from the store’s in-house Heyday brand is now ringing up at $17.99, according to a self-identified employee on Reddit.”
On their website ... $9.99.
Another point is the tariffs are on the IMPORT BROKER costs not wholesale or retail costs...
“I just went to the Target site- you can get an Anker, USB-C 10ft braided cord for $8.99, almost half price”
Or the one referenced for $9.99
Whew, we got new phones five weeks ago and I had to buy all new USB-C cords to replace the old Lightening cords. Glad we got in under the wire! (so to speak).
I’ve been buying Anker from when they were first launched in 2011. They make really good products and have seriously expanded their product lines.
Highly recommended. $8.99 for an Anker USB-C 10ft braided cord is a REALLY good price!
Oh please. Between the 6 of us in this household, there are more USB cords than we have devices. If you look in the junk drawer, you’ll find one.
