Thank you very much and God bless you.

There will be three elections tomorrow: a snap election in Portugal (the subject of this news item), a run-off for President of Romania (I posted a news item about it yesterday), and a first-round for President of Poland.

The Portuguese snap election was called when the ruling minority center-right government lost a no-confidence vote. Polls indicate that the center-right coalition will easily finish first, but with less than a majority.

Chega, meaning Enough!, is a populist-right/quasi-libertarian party. Think of Javier Milei of Argentina. Chega looks to finish in third place, with more than enough votes to form a majority coalition with the center-right party. The big question is whether the center-right and the populist-right can work together. We will only find out in post-election negotiations.
