This is Trump’s vision - using economic incentives to bring countries together and bring an end conflicts. That doesn’t mean it will always work, but as an important element of his foreign policy outlook, it’s something he probably feels the need to at least try before resorting to military options.

And if Iran rejects Trump’s overtures, at least he’ll be able to point to the fact that he tried to resolve things peacefully, when his leftist critics attack him for taking military action.
