The United States Department of Defense has recognized College of the Ozarks as a Top Performer for its exemplary dedication to honoring Vietnam Veterans. This prestigious recognition places the College among the top 15 percent of Commemorative Partners across the nation, a testament to its unwavering commitment to showing gratitude for the sacrifices of those who served.
As a proud Commemorative Partner of the U.S.A. Vietnam War Commemoration, College of the Ozarks actively participates in a nationwide initiative to thank and honor over four million Vietnam Veterans and their families. Through this collaboration, the College’s efforts help ensure that the legacy of these Veterans is not only remembered but celebrated, fostering a lasting impact on those who selflessly served the nation.
The Top Performer designation highlights organizations that go above and beyond in planning impactful events and engaging meaningfully with Vietnam Veterans. College of the Ozarks exemplifies this dedication by hosting a series of events and programs, including its annual Veterans Week activities, Patriotic Play, Patriotic Education Travel Program trips to Vietnam, and observances of Vietnam Veterans Day. Together, these initiatives create powerful opportunities to educate students, engage the community, and honor the courageous service of Vietnam Veterans.
Among the College’s most notable efforts is the Patriotic Education Travel Program, which allows students to travel with Vietnam Veterans to key historical locations, including battlefields and memorials in Vietnam. These immersive experiences foster personal connections between students and Veterans, bridging generations and instilling in students a deep respect for the freedoms they enjoy today. In December, College of the Ozarks sent 20 students, along with five Veterans, to Vietnam as part of the Patriotic Education Travel Program.
Additionally, the College’s annual Veterans Week activities provide opportunities for the entire campus and surrounding community to engage in meaningful ceremonies, performances, and educational events that honor the service and sacrifices of all Veterans, with a special focus on those who served during the Vietnam War.
The Missouri Vietnam Veterans Memorial found at College of the Ozarks honors the fallen and properly thanks Vietnam War Veterans for their sacrifice and bravery. The memorial stands near the college’s entrance and bears the names of the 1,410 Missourians who served and died in the Vietnam War.
Through its enduring commitment, College of the Ozarks has helped amplify the voices of Vietnam Veterans and ensure their stories are preserved for future generations.

My granddaughter is attending Ozark Christian college in Joplin Missouri. Their is a long waiting list to get into college of the ozarks.
Been fishing at Lake Taneycomo, the water below the College of the Ozarks, every Spring from many years. It’s a great place.
My brother-in-law graduated from there with a business degree. He put in the bulk of his work time there on the campus fire department.
