I’d be happy with one who is more Catholic.

I am experiencing quiet dread. I know I should be rejoicing, but I am truly scared for the Church. I'm no Catholic, but I'm inclined to say that the true church will live on, though the false one should go straight to hell.

>>The Church is not a democracy and never was intended to be.
>That’s the same kind of sentiment that Putin and Xi express about their governments.
Oh for heavens sake.
Southern Baptists don’t let rank-and-file believers vote for their leadership either. You want to compare the Baptists to Putin and Xi, go right ahead.

Uh oh, Drudge Report says he’s progressive on social issues. Unfortunately the new Pope really is "woke".
I pray he has a change of heart during his papacy, but I'm not hopeful that he will.

What was wrong with Eko from Lost? OK. They killed him off in the early seasons. But he was once a gangster, and he was black. Being a dead fictional person shouldn’t be used to discriminate against anyone.
Mangione is alive, and everything about him is fake, except he really did kill someone.

Doesn't matter. The same I said for the Catholic church applies to all religions, and that is that, the leadership is not elected. They're selected by those in higher positions. The rank-and-file don't have a say in who represents them. People just accept, but it's still not a 'democracy'.

Wrong. You are thinking purely on a human level. Elevate your thoughts.
Wrong!!!
You think pope Francis represented what most Catholics believe. He was basically a communist, and communism is not what most people believe.
When a person or a small group of people are SELECTED to represent the majority, did the majority have a say in that selection? There's no way I can be wrong about that.
If people knew what pope Francis was about, I'm pretty sure he would not have even been considered for the role of pope. by most Catholics.

Whatever you meant, is very stupid.
You must be a woman. Do you know what one is?
It all depends on what YOU define as a woman. I'm not gay, nor am I a tranny. That leaves only one option for YOU. Do you know what a man is?
But, I'll throw your statement back at you. YOU must be a woman, or a pretend woman. You most certainly cannot be a man if you are going to present your statement as a valid response to what I posted.

Not the point. I know that religions aren’t a democracy. I found the comparison of the Catholic Church to Putin and Xi offensive. Spiritual guidance doesn’t work like countries do.

Pope Leo 13th wrote the St Michael the Archangel prayer. I wouldn’t think Leo 13 would be a Modernist. But I’m not that knowledgeable about the Popes

My point is very valid.
Most laws and rules are written following religious beliefs/teachings. Muslims use the Koran as their guidance and laws.
Our constitution was written by God-fearing men. The leaders of all religions just 'dictate' how people should behave.
It's a good thing that religious leaders aren't actually the ones that run governments, other than those that obey their bibles as their laws..
The 'popeship' is not a position of power and none of his decisions/ruling are enforceable. People feel the need to have a God in their lives, but religious leaders are not really elected to tell people how to live their lives. Most religions have 'leaders', but they're mostly just figureheads with no actual power. We can do without them. Lets just go with the teachings of the respective religions without the figureheads.
If there was no pope, people wouldn't miss him. The idea of a pope is a relic of the past.

Hey, democrats controlled $7 trillion in the U.S. and a lot of it was wasted. Te pope sill has no power over what people do with their lives. So, what does the Catholic church have to show for all that spending?
