Ukraine's internal security bureau said on Tuesday that it had detained four people after investigating the supply of 120,000 defective mortar shells to its troops.

The Security Service of Ukraine, also known as the SBU, wrote on its Telegram channel that the people arrested included a military official, a quality control official, and two heads of a defense manufacturing business.

The announcement came six months after Ukrainian media reported complaints from some frontline units that their 120 mm mortar shells weren't firing or would fail to explode.

Speaking from experience, Quality Control is one of the most important processes for reliable ammunition.

Cost cutting while a war is going on.

Vaguely remember the Josephy Heller Catch-22 guy who removed parachutes from planes in WWII to sell them, leaving a leaflet promoting his company.

Looked it up: Milo Minderbinder’s Syndicate. Profiteering mess officer selling everything he could lay his hands on.

Nice! Even better because it sows doubt in their minds about other ammo.

You’d be shocked at how much thievery went on during WWII of supplies.

Yes, I remember Milo Minderbinder. Profit above all!

He traded with profiteers from both sides of the war. Eventually he struck a deal with his Axis partners to bomb Allied bases, including his own!

OTOH, that chocolate-covered Egyptian cotton was delicious!

Just by the way, who made all the dud mortar rounds?
US company, or someone else?
Not that it matters...

Heh, maybe this is why Ukraine lost another 15+ square kilometers of land yesterday in one small area of the front. I haven’t had time to look at the entire 600 miles yet.

I still think Ukraine should have reached out seriously for a deal earlier. Russia building up more trading cards or permanent land depending on how things proceed from here.

IE: They never made it to the front because they were intercepted by the corrupt Ukraine government & sold on the Black Market

Corruption is ingrained in the Ukrainian nation, a way of life. From the small boy alerting police to put the Boot on your car, to their Rada ( Congress) to their banking industry ( Hunter Biden fiasco),….no surprises.

I know first hand.

It appears that the German manufacturer Rheinmetall won the contract and failed to meet their commitment to furnish functional weaponry, ie. 120 mortar rounds.

Business Insider knew that. They were hoping everyone would think it was Trump/American.
