Consequences Arrive for Canadian Voters, and They Deserve Every Bit of It

Canada held elections on Tuesday, and in a stunning development, Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party completed the comeback. While the conservatives did make gains compared to the last decade, left-winger Mark Carney will remain prime minister, and the bill is about to come due.

After suffering under years of Trudeau's disastrous leadership, Canadians had a chance to change course. Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, who was the odds-on favorite to win the election just a few months ago, had promised to lift his nation out of its decline, promoting personal and economic freedom.

The choice should have been clear. Instead, the voters of Canada decided that what they needed was an even more far-left lunatic to lead them. Needless to say, the results will be predictable, and I don't say that because I'm some kind of political savant, but because Carney has advertised all the destructive things he's going to do.

...

Carney pledged to "punish" Canadian companies that contribute to "climate change."

...

What could possibly go wrong? I mean, it's not like Europe just experienced mass blackouts due to its obsession with renewables and "climate change" ideology. And I'm sure small businesses in Canada won't be harmed when the government seizes their assets because they weren't able to meet whatever ridiculous standards Carney and his party dream up.

Meanwhile, after suggesting he might lift it during the campaign, Carney has now affirmed he will keep Trudeau's energy production cap in place, another "climate change" initiative. What does that mean? It means a sharp decrease in Canadian economic growth, along with 50,000 jobs lost by 2032. Oh yeah, and those disastrous carbon taxes? Carney is keeping those in place, too, along with a phased ban on gas-powered cars.

None of this should be surprising given that Carney is deeply financially invested in the "net zero" narrative.

...

As for how the new Liberal coalition plans to spend taxpayer money, Carney has proposed over $130 billion in fiscal measures, including money toward diversity and equity programs as well as increased welfare. And I haven't even mentioned how culturally awful another Liberal-led government will be. Recall that it was Carney's party that coined the laughable "2SLGBTQI+" acronym because "LGBTQ" just wasn't enough. As for gender-affirming care? Canadian taxpayers will be paying for it now.

In short, things are about to get very bad up north, and Canadian voters have no one left to blame but themselves. I understand that President Donald Trump's "51st state" trolling and his tariff policies helped push a wave of nationalism that Carney took advantage of. I just don't care. Voters are supposed to be adults who make rational decisions. They aren't supposed to vote to further destroy their nation because another country's president made fun of them.

Over the next few years, as things get worse in Canada, no one in America should feel any sympathy. As their economy suffers, their jobs are lost, and their culture deteriorates, Canadians should be reminded that they chose this. What's done is done, and you can't save people who don't want to be saved. So let them suffer.

International affairs are not always a zero sum gain meaning that whatever we get they give. But a lot of it is in fact just that. Trade competition is only not a zero sum gain where one country has a lot of something the other needs and does not have. Like rare earth minerals or oil.

But Canada has nothing important that we dont have in abundance. The only thing they can give us is a lower price on things likeoil gas iron ore etc than our US owner are willing to sell for. That is the definition of a zero sum gain.

So screw Canada. They beg us to buy their bauxite and crude oil.

They voted against the leader of another country to get back at themselves. I guess us having to put up with another failed state on our borders is their way of punishing us.

I like President Trump but he wanted this guy in charge in Canada if the Canucks where dumb enough to fall for his 51st state trolling and not what would have been good for the country then Canada deserves every ounce of pain they are about to go through

“Carney pledged to “punish” Canadian companies that contribute to “climate change.”

There are TWO large countries that will be benefit from Global warming. One of them is handling the issue PERFECTLY, the other is Canada.

You left out something else. Carney will have no sympathizers in the US. Trump is free to go in hard on them now. Had the other guy won, at least some Republicans would have tried to get him to take it easy. So expect higher tariffs and a worsening economic situation in Canada - and its already pretty bad there.

Pierre even lost his own seat. He was not able to pivot to the new circumstances after Trump talked about them becoming the, 51st state.

Pierre felt a need to become very anti Trump, which is understandable, but a more talented politician would have simply said, we need to keep our focus on what is best for Canada, etc.

Kind of like the USA and our Democrat problem.

Canada is a lovely country with wonderful people that I will never set foot in again until those same wonderful people (as a whole)* acquire the good sense to choose a Conservative leader, rather than a Communist.

*Don’t worry. I know Canadian FReepers did not vote to punish Trump by punishing themselves.

....until those same wonderful people (as a whole)* acquire the good sense to choose a Conservative leader, rather than a Communist.

“Canadians should be reminded that they chose this.....

Pierre even lost his own seat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just by way of some basic facts.... Canada has a population of about 41 million. In the past 10 years, the liberals under Trudeau let in about 5 million immigrants. The immigrants in Canada tend to all vote liberal. These folks didn’t all vote (or all vote Liberal) but who can win when the other side has a head start of that magnitude? PDJT met the issue of migration (and what it was doing to the electorate) in a head on way.... the Conservatives in Canada did not seem that they wanted to confront the issue at all. Bottom line is that the population demographics are such that it is hard to visualize a Conservative ever winning (at least at a federal level) in Canada again. Just think of where the US would be if PDJT had NOT won the 2024 election and there had been another round of immigration along the lines of what seen in the past 4 years.... well, that is where Canada is at.
As for PP losing his own seat.... there were shenanigans galore in his riding. Start with gerrymandering his riding, then dump 100 independent candidate in and you get what you get. The Conservatives overall captured a higher percent of the vote than previous elections, they won more seats... but the leader of the party who had won his seat in 4 consecutive elections (I think it was) loses his own seat? That being legit takes about as much belief as Brib’em winning the majority of the bell weather counties in 2020...
