What peace?
Now it just remains to be seen how much money goes into, for lack of better words “nation building” vs how much American citizens will benefit financially in what comes out in a deal, and if guarantees of what comes out will be set in stone, but on paper...
OK, let’s now hear from the pro-Ruskie nay-sayers. (Not in Ukraine’s corner but am sooooooo tired of them!)
Has it been signed yet? It ain’t an agreement until the required signatures are on the document.
Bloomberg article described it this way.
“ The deal will grant the US privileged access to new investment projects to develop Ukraine’s natural resources including aluminum, graphite, oil and natural gas.”
I saw an interesting clip recently on Nation Building vs Nation Rebuilding. Some woman described Germany and Japan in the post-WWII era. Both had been devastated. Yet both countries had a history of establishing stable governments, they understood banking, they knew how to fight corruption, they had science and industry, and universities. Yes, they had been devastated, but they could be rebuilt.
Then the woman spoke about countries like Iraq, or Afghanistan, or Somalia. They didn’t understand government, finances, science, education, industry — nothing. And corruption was essential to how anything got done. There was nothing to “rebuild” in these places, just hardcore, actual “Nation Building”. Which is impossible and not even worth attempting.
In my opinion, Ukraine has no real history of success. There won’t be “rebuilding”. And attempts to “Nation Build” will fail.
“ Has it been signed yet? It ain’t an agreement until the required signatures are on the document.”
First sentence:
“On April 30, the United States and Ukraine signed an agreement…”
Before war broke out, wasn’t Ukraine listed as one of the most corrupt “western” nations/societies in the world?
I seem to remember multiple news outlets reporting on that some time back to that effect, but the reports on it online may be long covered up by now.
Nothing definitive, and no $ signs of how much, as in value relative to minerals, deposits, etc, will come out.
And will American citizens back home benefit? And how?
Remains to be seen...
Are you crying?
Well, there goes another couple of trillion dollars of US taxpayer dollars to Zelenskyy and the various Ukraine area ‘Oligarchs’.
And I bet that American Taxpayers will be lucky if they get a lump of coal in their Christmas Stockings in return for their ‘investments’.
I don’t understand President Trump’s thinking on this agreement, since he has said he won’t be shipping anymore US weaponry to Ukraine. Can someone explain what this is about?
“ I don’t understand President Trump’s thinking on this agreement, since he has said he won’t be shipping anymore US weaponry to Ukraine. ”
What is the connection you are making here?
No, I’m just wondering why you apparently hate America, Americans citizens, and taxpayers?
American taxpayers get their money sent over to rebuild Ukraine’s roads, bridges, dams, water works, power stations, schools, etc.
But if Ukrainians get the overwhelming majority of the jobs extracting all of these resources you named then Americans don’t benefit.
Go to Democrat Underground. You belong there, not here.
Treasury Announces Agreement to Establish United States-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund
That’s the end of the war. Russia gets land, Ukraine gets cash, the US gets rare earth materials which China previously provided. The EU moves closer to totalitarianism and Canada will fill the void we created when we told the EU to F off.
And US gets land.

This will be phase II
You don’t make any sense.
Interesting to note on Nation building
Example:
U.S Automotive companies helped Japan post-WWII to devlop construct their automotive industry.
