A beloved Missouri mother refused to get out of the car she was in with her teenage daughter just before two teen thugs shot her during an attempted carjacking.

It has become hard to deny the truth. There are reasons things were the way they used to be. It’s looking more and more like those were good reasons.

I’d be satisfied if there were a quick and fair trail, then a quick and fair appeal if found guilty. Followed by a quick execution.
But we all know how this will play out. Twenty years from now that murdering filth will still be enjoying three meals a day at the state’s expense.
Requirement for HS graduation is to witness an execution (we have plenty waiting in the wings with their endless appeals) or at least tour a prison. Kids now days have a disconnect with death thanks to respawning video games and other cultural failures.

Yes and all executions for violent crime should occur within 1 year of the sentence being upheld on appeal. Those executions should be public using a method that makes an impression such as electric chair, hanging, or firing squad.

I wouldn’t be satisfied but it is probably the way you handle it in the kind of society I want to live in. I have considered the argument that treating them with a satisfying amount of brutality is necessary to deter like minded criminals but in the end I think it is just giving in to wrath.

The Constitution guarantees the right to a “speedy trial”. It is the progressive judges public defenders, and prosecutors, employees of the state, who prevent speedy trials from occurring.
The jurisdiction over federal courts below the Supreme Court belongs to Congress. Congress can pass a law requiring trials to begin within six months of a defendant being accused of a crime. However it chooses not to do so.
State legislatures should also take on this issue for state courts. They ignore judicial reform.
Most legislators at the state and federal level are attorneys. Attorneys benefit financially from extended legal proceedings. Hence, nothing happens to reform the dysfunctional legal system so it can deliver the speedy trial and due process rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
I was very suspicious when Obummer pushed these new laws.
Seemed to me there was no real reason as we had laws to govern all regardless of color, creed etc. it seemed to me there was an ulterior motive.
Seems I was right.
