China claims that President Trump started the trade war against China by imposing reciprocal tariffs.
What China conveniently omits is that they have been waging a full-scale trade war against America for decades. Not only does China systematically violate just about every term of every trade agreement, they have been stealing trillions worth of American industrial technology and intellectual property.
China Steals at Least $225 Billion Every Year
According to a 2024 report from the House Committee on Homeland Security, China steals between $300 and $600 billion worth of American technology and intellectual property every year. This is in line with findings from a 2017 report from the Commission on the Theft of American Intellectual Property.
If we assume a middle-of-the-road figure, and extrapolate these findings back to 2001, when China joined the World Trade Organization, then we can assume that China has stolen some $9.9 trillion worth of American technology and intellectual property. As we will see below, this does not even encapsulate all the ways that China steals technology.
Perhaps surprisingly, only 29% of espionage targets were military in nature. The vast majority of China’s efforts have been focused on procuring industrial technology, including manufacturing processes, formulas, and designs. This theft costs American businesses at least $180 billion annually.
American businesses also lost out on big profits from counterfeit goods. A report from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) notes that 60% of all counterfeit goods sold globally originated in China. The proportion is even higher for America’s consumer market, with 87% of the counterfeit goods sold in America originating in China. This deprives American companies of some $291 billion in lost revenue.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Trade magazines, much of it.
There are millions of dollars in published trade magazines in our post secondary institutions.
And there are zero legal remedies available to us in China for tech and intellectual property theft.
They may try to run the clock out until mid-terms. China will drag out a deal with Trump.
Bush Sr. should never have given China a foot in the door, and Clinton sold us out for money. With “leaders” like those who needs enemies?
China is not alone and far from the first. When Integrated Circuit chips (IC’s) came out we were the first. Not long afterwards Russia bragged about developing the most advanced chip. We got our hands on one and checked it out. We would put the developers signature on the substrate the circuit was etched into and lo and behold there was our developers signature in the substrate of the “Russian” chip.
More at trade fairs. Old example:
Some manufacturer is displaying samples of liquid chemicals used in some proprietary process. Chinese guy comes to the table and while leaning over it to get a closer look at something, the end of his tie “accidentally” dips into the liquid. [ Regular samples are grabbed up and sent to mainland China also. ]
Chinese guy leave table and goes to restroom where he bags up his tie, then leaves the building and goes to post office where he mails his tie to some PLA affiliated entity in China. The substance is analyzed, duplicated and used to some benefit for the PLA.
All of this goes to Project Super 8xxxx which is dedicated to finding the next wonder weapon - the A-bomb being an example of a super weapon.
Bush Sr. should never have given China a foot in the door

Door opened by Noxious Nixon, not Bush Sr.
I used to work the OTC in Houston. (Offshore Technology Conference). It is a worldwide offshore drilling trade show.
I worked for a German company that manufactured parts used on drilling rigs and winches. In a few years, I saw more and more chinese knockoffs of our product. What bothered me is their product would fail and potentially get people killed, but they don’t care about that and If someone sued them, good luck with that.
Yes, him too. I remember him sharing a toast with whoever the Chinese big shot was at the time.
They steal because our Free Traitors™ let them.
your an entrepreneur with a great idea put in the time the money and finally you break through, in steps these parasites steal your product plans, copy them and sell them for half. Burn in hell china
Door to China should have been opened but to make it favor one side was negligent.
Ask anyone familiar with Cisco about Huawei.
Yes, him too. I remember him sharing a toast with whoever the Chinese big shot was at the time.

The Chinese Big Shot: Mao Tse Tung, the most murderous wold leader since Genghis Khan, murdering over 76,702,000 people.
Door to China should never have been opened by anyone.
Wal-Mart, Hillary Clinton, et al., are all in on it.
Wal-Mart presses a manufacturer to produce something well below costs, and they cannot do it. So, they get China to do it and sign that there isn’t a suitable product made in the US.
China also violates the Hell out of patent law but Hillary, both as a Wal-Mart board member, and as Secretary of State, was complicit in letting them.
Add to this the fact that the trade deficit capitalizes China to the tune of $350 billion/year in the trade deficit (which they can borrow against and multiply the financing), as well as FDI which amounts to another $100+ billion, and no wonder we’ve turned china into a superpower.
The real question is not actually about economics, tariffs are about national security and self-sufficiency. good article on the subject:
