Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Friday she will be joining the bipartisan Congressional Delegation to attend Pope Francis’ funeral in the Vatican on Saturday.
Despite claiming to be Catholic, in 2022 Pelosi was denied holy communion by the Archbishop of San Francisco due to her pro-abortion views, which conflict with Church teachings.

After numerous attempts to speak with Speaker Pelosi to help her understand the grave evil she is perpetrating, the scandal she is causing, and the danger to her own soul she is risking, I have determined that she is not to be admitted to Holy Communion,” Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone stated at the time.
“As you have not publically repudiated your position on abortion, and continue to refer to your Catholic faith in justifying your position and to receive Holy Communion … I am hereby notifying you that you are not to present yourself for Holy Communion and, should you do so, you are not to be admitted to Holy Communion, until such time as you publically repudiate your advocacy for the legitimacy of abortion and confess and receive absolution of this grave sin in the sacrament of Penance,” the Archbishop continued in a statement issued by the Archdiocese.
In response to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment, a Pelosi spokesman responded only with a link to a 2022 article by The Washington Post reporting the representative received Holy Communion in the Vatican despite Cordileone’s denial of the sacrament.

It would be funny if Nancy wound up being seated right next to President Trump during the Pope’s funeral ceremony.
Vatican authorities may decide to seat all the Americans together.
