The Wealthy West Coast city of Los Angeles is in danger of becoming 'the next Detroit'

A glamorous city known for sprawling mansions, boutique shops and glamor is at risk of becoming 'the next Detroit,' according to experts.

Los Angeles is being rocked by an exodus of big budget TV and film production companies — long considered the backbone of the local economy.

Detroit was once the center of America's auto production, but fell into decline when factories began to shut, triggering a major housing crisis.

Now, some fear LA faces a similar threat. FilmLA reports that on-location production in the city fell by 22.4 percent in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same time last year.

High state taxes are a major factor pushing studios and production companies to shoot elsewhere.

Industry leaders are pushing California to extend an entertainment production tax credit to 35 percent of spending in a bid to stem the flood of projects leaving town, Realtor.com reported.

The issue came to a head at a city town hall on Monday, where advocates pushed for broader eligibility and increased incentives.

'This is not hyperbole to say that if we don't act, the California film and TV industry will become the next Detroit auto,' producer Noelle Stehman told the event according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Detroit was once a thriving economy thanks to General Motors, Ford and Chrysler all having their manufacturing headquarters there.

However, when the plants moved on in the 1960s, the city was left decimated.

The loss of jobs, coupled with the mortgage crisis, drove millions from their homes in the 2000s as their properties were left worthless.

Less than two decades ago, one in five houses stood empty in the city, with foreclosures mounting and properties on deserted streets being sold for $1.

One of the main issues is Tinsel Town's spiraling housing costs...

Home buyers are increasingly being priced out of the Los Angeles hoy=using market.

The median income in the city is $95,625, yet the median home sale price in 2025 is almost 10 times that at $965,300, according to Realtor.com data.

CA lost aerospace, and only those drooling in cups still watch those cheesy lefty movies always portraying white folk as bumbling villains...The beaches are full of gangs, twisted kinky sickos and strange brown foam in the water.

Take a cue from some very well-received dystopias, and start walling these libtard socialist hellholes off.

Los Angeles has been doomed since the release of the Arri Alexa digital camera in 2010, breaking the monopoly the Hollywood studios had for a century.

The Streaming platforms have or are buying the studios. Bottom line is very important and lowering costs such as Mexican studios for lower cost of production plus tap into the growing Hispanic market for entertainment. Couple that with other States such as Georgia with tax offsets and new studios, we’ll Tick…. Tick LA….

Shooting and developing up to a million frames of film for a single movie used to be cost prohibitive. Only the big studios could afford it.

Today, a Youtuber in Dallas can create Hollywood-quality video with a $1000 camera.

,,, that's the opening line. Some of LA is like that. Lots of it isn't. More of a story is that Detroit seems to be reinventing itself in anything but the auto industry.

I don't think that's true in Detroit. Detroit housing prices plummeted. L.A. housing prices are rising.

Ergo, L.A. is not becoming Detroit.

They allowed the DEI crew to run them into the ground and now they are literally cutting their own throats on a daily basis. How’s the rebuild going? haven’t heard anything. Imagine its going the way the parasites in control want it to while devising a way to get federal funds to pay for it all and not do a dammed thing about it.

Just looked up the Arri Alexa digital camera at B&H Camera. I don’t have $74.000 lying around. That one in without the lense.

If CA would vote for this, why does Deep State have to steal its elections?

Even LA’s...

I have read that the PORN INDUSTRY has to get LA city approval to make porn films. Does that mean that the city of LA is now a PIMP for the porn industry?
