The Abrego Garcia case pulls Democrats into the immigration debate Trump wants to have
The Associated Press ^ | April 18, 2025 | BY STEPHEN GROVES AND ADRIANA GOMEZ LICON

WASHINGTON (AP) — For Democrats, the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case is about fundamental American ideals — due process, following court orders, preventing government overreach. For the Trump administration and Republicans, it’s about foreigners and gang threats and danger in American towns and cities.

And that argument is precisely the one that Donald Trump wants to have.

This dichotomy is playing out as Democrats double down on their defense of Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran man mistakenly deported and imprisoned without communication. They’re framing his case as a threat to individual rights to challenge President Trump’s immigration policies.

The effort comes as the Trump administration pushes back harder, turning this deportation into a test case for his crusade against illegal immigration despite a Supreme Court order saying Abrego Garcia must be returned to the United States.

In trying to shape public discourse against Democrats, Trump and White House officials are accusing them of defending a foreigner who they’ve claimed is a gang member based on testimony of an informant — and whose wife admitted she once filed a protective order against him despite now advocating for his return.

“Due process and separation of powers are matters of principle,” Democratic Rep. Adriano Espaillat, the chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, said Thursday. “Without due process for all, we are all in danger.”

“For Democrats, the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case is about fundamental American ideals”

All I need to read.

Sorry AP, only a few liberal women, wealthy or not, who have never really been out in the world, buy that. Their loyalty to the democrat party, likely generational, has them gullible you this crap. Only they subscribe

This guy is valuable to democrats for whatever nefarious reason anyone wants to edit in here, they’ll be close

Where are the democrats that were clamoring for due process for J6’ers and where are the AP articles praising them for such?

They can’t deport these thugs fast enough as far as I’m concerned.

Had the TV on just to hear the headlines they are saying. They had a quick segment on this and stated how the guy has no criminal convictions and was falsely sent to El Salvador.

Yes, we can only hope the Democrat Leftists continue demanding that criminals, who are illegal aliens, are allowed to remain in our country.

As the old saying goes: “When you are in the hole, stop digging.”

Advice the Democrats and their media friends should heed.

The AP lying once again. That is NOT what the Supreme Court ordered. They ruled the US must facilitate the return of the MS-13 gangbanger. That means there is nothing for the US to do if El Salvador decides to retain the gangbanger in their prison. If they decide to release him, then the US must provide a method (i.e. a plane ride) to bring him back to America.

The Democrats could not have cared less about “due process” for the J6ers.

What was Garcia doing to earn a living???

I don’t recall seeing if he had a job, and if so, where was he working?

Ah. Due process. That is what the Democrats used when waving in all those foreign-born people into the interior of the United States, just as the guards waved in all the US citizens into the Capital Building on January 6. Two sides of the same coin.

Just as the border crossers were given court dates years into the future and allowed to roam (with social security numbers!), the tourists were put behind bars (without passes!) for years waiting for THEIR court dates.

Interesting parallel.

Ass Press is really full of it. The Supreme Court made no such order. It required the government to "facilitate the release" of Garcia in El Salvador. The Supreme Court recognized and upheld the previous court's deportation order for him.

Incorrect. The Supreme Court ruled the US must "facilitate the release" of the gangbanger. Big difference. The Supreme Court did order him to return to the US. They upheld the previous court's deportation order for him.

<< For Democrats, the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case is about fundamental American ideals — due process, following court orders, preventing government overreach >>

What crap. It’s about attempting to prevent Trump from executing his election mandate — deporting ALL illegal aliens. They figure that if they can stop the deportation of a wife-beating, human-trafficking MS-13 gangster who has already had due process in an immigration court and has a deportation order against him, then they can easily stop the removal of the tens of millions of other illegals the Trump admin has planned. That’s why the Dems and Deep State are circling the wagons around this piece of dreck.

Defense attorney to the rape victim on the stand. “Now Ms. X, do you have any witnesses to this alleged situation”? Victim “no!” Defense Attorney “judge I ask you dismiss this charge do to lack it evidence”! The prosecutor jumps up “your honor we have video from security cameras showing the crime”! Defense Attorney “judge I call those cameras to the stand to testify what they saw……”

a trillion narco-dollar profits are going somewhere, while urban America sinks into the desolation of the swamp. Government Dependents, the more the better to the Democrats, sustain the grift machinery while corruption eats the seed corn and crime poisons the fields. Any working future requires fewer or no more St. Kilmars but the Corruption Industrial Complex is a filthy, deadly, self sustaining “nefarious reason” . rats and roaches.
