“A young co-pilot was in control at the time...”

Code words for DEI, once again, as pretty much ONLY DEIs are now being hired.

I wonder if it has anything to do with this.

More than 1.4 million people in Puerto Rico were plunged into darkness Wednesday after power went out across the entire island. Local power authorities reported a system failure around 12:40pm —the same time a powerful geomagnetic storm was striking Earth. A geomagnetic storm is a temporary disruption of Earth’s magnetic field caused by a large burst of solar plasma, typically from a coronal mass ejection on the sun.

DEI? No, the propagandist at Puerto Rican newspaper 'El Nuevo Dia' claimed the Airbus A321 suffered a “mechanical problem”.

Except it didn't "suffer a mechanical problem" - the DEI co-pilot broke the landing gear when zer/zee/they/them failed to land properly.

At least the co-pilot didn't snap the wings off and roll the plane upside down.

A “cool headed Captain ” would have never let a “young co-pilot” prang the jet that hard on the runway!

Still think DEI is a good idea?

Except the DEI co-pilot has to perform the takeoffs and landings for them to count in their logbook. These airlines are working to build up DEI co-pilots' hours in order to move them over to the pilot's seat.

The first job of these DEI pilots should be flying for FAA officials and politicians.

True, but the Captain hands should have been on the yoke (pulling back) when he felt/saw a sink rate like that.

“Except it didn’t “suffer a mechanical problem” - the DEI co-pilot broke the landing gear when zer/zee/they/them failed to land properly.”

LOL...by their definition running a red light and crashing (hard) into another car is a ‘mechanical problem’ since the car cannot be driven away immediately.

Anyway, as I’ve noted here several times, our society was created by NON-DEIs and was never was designed to withstand DEIs (same for our Constitution, by the way). If we keep installing DEIs, everything BREAKS DOWN, as we see with California regarding their fires and water situation.

...and countries that avoid going the DEI route, led by Russia and China, will simply overtake us, as we descend to a level that DEIs are able to handle. For example, in this case (and the one in Canada a month or two ago), we’ll have to double the strength of our airframes to handle DEI landings, which will, of course GREATLY diminish aircraft capacity for passengers and cargo...while non-DEI societies, like Russia and China, will not have to do that.

The Captain is still responsible for the aircraft—and it is the Captain’s responsibility to monitor and correct any mistakes the first officer is making. Maybe the Captain was also a DEI hire.

Hey. Its Frontier Airlines. If you want a wheel when you land, you have to pay extra.

They want the captain to train morons to be qualified and be responsible when something goes wrong. That is expecting too much from the captain. It is not the captain’s fault, it is worshipers of the religion of equality of outcomes that is the problem.

The NY Post article has the flight number incorrect. The correct flight number is Frontier flight 3506.

You can track the ups and downs here

Flew back from LHR to DTW years ago on BA.
We hit the ground so hard nearly all the overheads flew open and luggage fell out.

When exiting the plane one of the pilots was standing there and i asked if they were former navy pilots. Then told him that if i was the ground crew i would be pissed.
He didnt say anything.
