Thanks for posting
See it almost all the time on interstates. No, they aren’t drunk, they just drive that way, but they might be.
In Canada, the entire trucking industry seems to have been taken over by Pakistanis, who bring their cousins, indentured servants, or slaves over from Pakistan to drive trucks
I have seen families whose home is literally the cabs of truckings. The crap in buckets and dump it by the sides of the road.
If I find myself behind a panel van with ladders piled on the roof, I make sure to change lanes.
Same thing in Oklahoma. Last year I went to DMV to renew my CDL. They had interpreters for the people getting CDL’s that spoke no English.
They would have plenty of American drivers if they paid a wage for the time spent away from home.
Only time I would drive a truck was during oil bust.
A non-domicile CDL or CLP is a special driver license or permit issued to someone who lives in another state or country that does not have the same driver license testing standards as the United States.
To apply, you must:
Meet all CDL requirements
Be a resident of a country whose licensing standards do not meet the US testing and licensing standards. (Per 49 CFR 383.73(f)(2), applicants holding a commercial driver’s license from Canada or Mexico are not eligible for a non-domicile CDL/CLP.)
Surrender any driver license or identification card previously issued*
Present the following documents at the driver license office:
A valid passport issued to you by the country of which you are a resident,
Either:
A form I-94, Arrival/Departure record or a successor document, or
Unexpired employment authorization document; and
Acceptable proof of Texas residency, if not previously provided
Pay the required $121 fee
Well the Canuks locked up all their English speaking drivers during covid.
As a former truck driver I am well aware of the white Volvo flip-flop Mafia. They’re killing American citizens because they can’t read road signs They can’t communicate with the police and quite frankly they shouldn’t be driving anything let alone 80,000 lb down the road.
Follow the bonehead trucker on YouTube for more
They changed the rule. It used to be if you couldn’t speak English or read English well enough to communicate with the DOT officer you were put out of service. Now it’s just a violation and they’re sent on their way.
I knew.
As a driver I was cut off by a Pakistani in another semi.
He turned left in front of me.
If I had been loaded I would have hit him
I only trucked for a little over a year. Horrible pay. “Us” (truck company staff) verses “them” (the drivers) climate that permeates the entire industry.
My driver-trainer recently got a union job and is kicking himself for wasting so many years on the road.
No thanks. Not worth it.
Why its good for owners (often foreigners themselves) to have illegals, or even literal slaves brought in from places like Pakistan or East Africa, employed as drivers.
I heard that show yesterday. It’s been happening for years. I used to get deliveries from drivers that didn’t speak much English. The worst were the Africans that were fairly hostile.
I was under the impression that a CDL had to earned through training and successful testing. Am I wrong?
CDLs are (legally) not that easy to get. And, the specific endorsements are not that easy, either. In Texas, if they suspect a truck driver doesn’t have a particular endorsement or it’s fraudulent, they can give them a test on the side of the road. If they can’t pass it, they have to park the truck right there. But, they have to stop them for a violation first. I notice parked trucks on the side of the road or in vacant roadside lots here all the time.
Thanks
Here in PRC (Politically Repressive Canaduh), the transportation business has been taken over by Indians and Sikhs. Like that article describes, they barely speak any English, can’t read road signs, and don’t know how to drive. They get a two week training course, before a cursory test, and are sent to drive.
One need only look to the accident and death stats on ON Hwy 17 and 11, that connect to Western Canaduh, above Lake Superior!
I would bet that the fellow in the article, who suggested the drivers were ‘Jamaican’ or ‘Haitian, was wrong. Most likely Indians or Sikhs.
BTW, when said trucks pull up at a truck stop, expect to see three or four pile out of the cab. Also, many times, they only stop for fuel, cooking on board the truck and relieving themselves through holes cut in the bottom of the cab. DIVERSIRY IS OUR STRENGTH!
Can not read the signs
Mostly what I see are Pakis and Indians, maybe Sikhs. Look at the names of their “company” on the sides of their doors. I have also noticed a lot of Indian restaurants along the interstates that advertise to them.
