The newest? the USS Gerald Ford carrier, 13 billion beans.
“Floating bomb magnets”.

Beyond me why the hell they would be advertising this.

Old DoD habits die hard, eh? A typical Pentagon staffer and Deep-Stater would over-classify everything and keep this important information from the public.

Hegseth is releasing the information as part of Trump's new era of transparency and to let everyone know that China gets a lot more bang for their buck out of their MIC than the US gets out of theirs.

I agree. While it may be the truth, doesn’t mean he has to announce it to the world.

Doubt it would take Musk 15 minutes to figure out how to screw up the guidance system. For fun, he could 180 them and send them back to explode on their launch site.

This, if true at all, is well known by the CCP and everyone else.

That’s a concern right there. And it doesn’t have to be an external threat. Unrest at home (caused by inflation, a bad job market, etc.) might push a dictator into doing something to distract the masses.

Wars are ready-made for such distractions.

Rally ‘round the flag, boys!

Folks,

this is war games. We always lose in war games, so that we will learn. If you win in war games, you get complacent.

I wonder who wins in China’s war games?

Meh, the DoD exaggerated Soviet military capabilities all the time during the Cold War.

Motives: 1) To procure more and better weaponry; 2) To give the enemy a false sense of security.

3K pounds traveling at 4K mph I think the load itself would make a pretty big hole clean thru. without even the need to detonate.

Good point. Knowing the little I do, if given a choice on what side to be on, I would choose the USA.

I agree with Hegseth. This is no longer WWII where aircraft carriers were protected by destroyer escorts that could knock down enemy planes.

Today’s missiles can easily hit a small target in a big ocean.

At least one missile will get through to a carrier.

At least one nuclear-armed missile will get through to Beijing too.

Let freedom live on Taiwan and live past retirement age in Beijing.

Spend More Money Spend More Money.

The Chinese Army was worried about its recruits some years back identifying problems like young men watching video games and masturbating too much.

If we “lose” to China maybe it will be because of reasons like that.

This stuff is usually followed up with large increases to the defense budget.

They did this with the USSR during the 80’s.
