DOGE Announces $2.6 Billion in Savings After Terminating 180 Wasteful Contracts – Includes $85.5k for “Live plant maintenance services” Contract and $265.5k for “Social Media Monitoring Subscription, Training, and Platform Setup”

President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by Elon Musk, announced new contract terminations on Tuesday, saving American taxpayers $2.6 billion in wasteful spending.

The agency highlighted presumably the most outrageous expenses, which total over $350,000 for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) “plant maintenance” and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) social media programs.

Similarly, DOGE recently revealed that minor routine website maintenance for the VA cost $380,000 PER MONTH.

“That contract has not been renewed, and the same work is now being executed by 1 internal VA software engineer spending ~10 hours/week,” the department said.

...

Contract update!

Agencies terminated 180 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $3.3B and savings of $2.6B, including a $85.5K @EPA contract for “live plant maintenance services” (the internal EPA team will water them going forward) and a $265.5K @HHSGov contract for “social media monitoring subscription, training, and platform setup”.

...

Democrats are furious that Elon Musk is saving the American taxpayer from their scams and misuse of our money.

There are currently nearly a dozen lawsuits challenging DOGE over its authority, data access, and privacy laws.

There is also a secret resistance agreement between 14 states to conduct coordinated lawfare against DOGE and Elon Musk.

Musk’s role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is formally designated as that of a Special Government Employee (SGE), a status that limits his service to 130 days within any 365-day period. His tenure is expected to end around late May 2025, when that cap is reached.

However ... President Trump may have several options if he wants to keep Musk leading DOGE past the expiration date.

My friends on the left are saying there is no Trillion dollar savings coming and that Elon has professed it may be only $150 billion?

Everything is a trickle. No mass deportations, no arrests, FBI promotions, and now DOGE pulling a Blondi and announcing some pittance after promising a $trillion.

Okay. maybe some functions aren't appropriate to be privatized.

It takes months to identify these savings while it takes Congress minutes to spend billions.

Democrats are furious b/c Elon Musk is saving the American
taxpayer from Biden-era scams and misuse of tax dollars.

Right now there are nearly a dozen lawsuits challenging
DOGE over its authority, data access, and privacy laws.

There is also a secret agreement——collusion among 14 Democrat-cursed
states to conduct coordinated collusive lawfare against DOGE and Elon Musk

Evil DOGE, evil Musk, evil Trump!

I guess I’m gonna have to wait for the next democrat president to come along before I apply for a grant to test my theory that, dumping green paint on top of grass and trees will make them grow greener and last longer. My application for $10 billion will have to wait and I’ll have to continue being poor for another 4 years. But, the platne will die without my green paint that could have saved plants and trees and home lawns.

I hear Hunter Hunter Biden still has a million dollar contract
to inspect live plant leaf spots, wilting, and stunted growth.

Stopping stuff like this is great. However I would hope actions are being taken to find out the names of the people who set up these contracts and fire those involved.

“It takes months to identify these savings while it takes Congress minutes to spend billions.”

*************

DOGE is doing the oversight job that congress should be doing. Congress authorizes spending but doesn’t make any effort to see where the money goes. What a complete disgrace.
