California's widely popular e-bike voucher program is returning this month, giving residents another opportunity to score $2,000 that can be used to purchase an electronic bicycle.
The second application window will open at 5 p.m. on April 29, this time with 1,000 vouchers up for grabs.

So we are, going to buy e-bikes for poor folks
Either they are going to sell them right away or charge them in their crowded housing burning the place down
Ain’t socialism grand, comrade?
I don’t understand why California is going through all this red tape. Wouldn’t this be easier?
Another waste of taxpayer dollars. Frivolous spending, no wonder there are budget deficits and ever higher taxes. What's next, free cake every day for homeless illegal aliens? Let them eat cake while we work our butts off?
Step right up and win your rickshaw!
We in Minnesota only get $750 to $1000.
I thought Tim Walz invented this ebike program. He just copied it from California.
When the system doesn’t work, you learn how to work the system.
I tried to apply in the first round. It was first come, first serve. All of the vouchers were gone in 30 seconds of the start time. I complained to my State Rep.
This time it is a lottery which is makes it a little more fair.
Do I need an e-bike? No. But I didn’t make the rules.
What about a regular bike?

This is not for poor folks. Them EBikes cost $5,000 plus. This just makes them cheaper for their constituents (cough doners) to buy.
Since CA doesn’t care if you are a US citizen, does it matter if I am not a resident of the state? Can I apply with a made up SS number and a PO Box?
EC
You can get ‘em starting at about a grand, but “crank-motor” (vs. hub motor) name brand ones start at more like $3,500.00:

The low end ones are “Chinesium”...and prices are due to rise fast soon!
(BTW: $4 Million in taxpayer dollars wasted!)
I do enjoy my low end ebike. However, like everything else, new California regulations have made my ebike (with a throttle) now illegal.
Not all bike shops participate.
Mine won’t.
And I probably aren’t poor enough.
Still spending money like they have some.
Not an “e-bike”, they’re mopeds.
How about 750 Bel Air Road, Los Angeles, CA, 90077?
I’d say, “Go for it!”
