That Space Force colonel in command in Greenland – well, formerly in command in Greenland – who ran her fool mouth to undermine her commander-in-chief demonstrates an all-too-common problem with today’s senior military officers. We keep seeing these passive-aggressive, and not so passively aggressive, officers acting out and throwing childish tantrums of resistance to the President that the people of the United States elected. It’s inconceivable to those of us from the military who won the Cold War; we stayed the hell out of politics. Somehow, they must have missed that civilian control block of instruction; non-partisanship is a vital principle of our officer corps. To be political on duty is a violation of our oaths. It’s a violation of our ethos as officers. And it’s got to be brutally crushed – even Barack Obama understood that when he properly canned General Stanley McChrystal for having a staff that thought it was okay to diss the President to reporters (incredibly, after this massive leadership failure, McChrystal has gone on to sell his leadership insights to eager civilian suckers, but that’s another story).
We simply cannot have a functioning military that tolerates individuals putting their own personal prerogatives ahead of the mission – and that’s exactly what this political posturing is. It brings to mind a story of my continuing dispute with my command sergeant major when I commanded a cavalry squadron. We rarely disagreed on anything; my CSM was that guy whose picture is scowling back at you, judging you, when you look up the definition of a noncommissioned officer. But every chow time in the field, we had a confrontation. One of us would note that the last of the soldiers had eaten, and then the argument would begin.

Just keep smashing them like an ant infestation. Eventually, when you smash enough, the ants either they go away or they’re all dead.

I said this before Hegseth was approved as SecDef:
I just think Hegseth is better equipped at spotting the traits he is going to want his team infused with to achieve success in the coming battle, and he is also better equipped to discern wokeness in people he is dealing with, no matter how hard they may try to hide it. And if he doesn't discern it, he won't leave it at that. He will find loyal people who are in the system, and they will know who to ask about who did what. Too many people have had eyes on this crap for the last few decades to assume past behaviors and affiliations won't rise to the surface.
In summary, I think Hegseth will get confirmed in the Senate. I think when he gets to the Pentagon, he will begin establishing a network of teams, and Patriots who hate what the Left has done to the miltary and its institutions will come out of hiding and rally to him and assist him.
It will be a battle, no doubt.
My heart aches to consider what is going to happen in this internecine warfare that is going to take place in the DOD. I think it will take place because Trump sees the evil that is inherent in wokeness, and Hegseth has seen the result of that evil in action. Trump and Hegseth will both be pulling in the same direction, and with equal intensity. So the battle is going to happen.
Like the contests that routinely took place between Soviet and American submarines in the Cold War, much of this warfare between Wokes and Conservatives is going to take place out of the sight of the public, as if it were taking place at 600 feet below the surface of the North Atlantic. We are only going to be aware of some of the big battles that spill into the Media, but invisibly, in a network stretching to all but the most remote enclaves of the military, Confrontations are going to take place. Records are going to be looked at. People are going to be questioned. Careers are going to be ended. People will be called to answer for their actions. Some may be unfairly accused, and some that were active in perpetuating Marxist principles will somehow skate free.
So, it does make me sad in one sense to consider the necessary battle to take our military service off the path that only leads through tyranny. And yes, I do firmly believe that woke principles are rooted in Marxism, and as such, can only lead to tyranny. And we just cannot have our military on that surefooted path to disaster. We can't.
At least that is what I hope happens.
I believe there is a lot going on behind the scenes. People who were all in on this are being brought onto the carpet and questioned, IMO. And they aren't just going to give up and leave.

What about the Col. for Ft McCoy? Another “resist” not putting up the POTUS and Sec Def photos? Or was that debunked?

FWLIW I am a child of the Cold War military. Never served, but spent more time on Army posts than a lot of guys who served full enlistments.
What Kurt describes about an apolitical officer corps is what I remember seeing growing up.

I’m sure she’s out at soon as she comes to Hegseth’s attention. And hopefully she doesn’t, hopefully enough of his people are in place that a subordinate removes her.

They violated their oath as an Officer. They do not need to leave willingly; they do not have a leg to stand on and will be forced to retire or face charges. As Officers, they will get a letter of reprimand at a minimum and will be retired at the last grade they served honorably. A one-star will be demoted to a Colonel on retirement. It will cost them tens of thousands over the remainder of their life. Even if a RAT becomes president, they will not be welcome at military base functions.
